Since we seem to be reminiscing:
Mark Belanger was another great defensive player (shortstop for the Baltimore Orioles from 1965-1982). At the time, I was playing baseball-by-mail and I had him on my team for a long time -- years, even. He would only hit about .220 --.230, but was considered a/the top defensive shortstop, at least in the American League, at that time.
His Golden Glove awards were won in:
1969-AL-GG-SS
1971-AL-GG-SS 1973-AL-GG-SS 1974-AL-GG-SS 1975-AL-GG-SS 1976-AL-GG-SS 1977-AL-GG-SS 1978-AL-GG-SS But, alas, no Hall Of Fame induction.

Subject: Re: [LA Dodgers Best Fans] what do you think???? It would be interesting to see if Omar Vizquel gets inducted because he is known more for his defense than his offense. In this day and age, I would have to say no. Granted he has not been in the league as long as Ozzie but by the end of his career, I would assume their numbers would be very similar.
