Re: [DODGERS] Re: Tigers get Cabrera; Dodgers close to acquiring Bedard

Yeah, I don't know what is up with Willis and do have to figure that switching to a more hitter friendly league could hurt him but he will be pitching in a pitchers park at least for his home games.  Should be interesting.  The Tigers also finally got their third baseman since Beltre was a free agent and they offered him 6 years and 90 Million but he turned it down because he wanted to stay with LA or at least with a team on the west coast.  Cabrera is a better hitter than Beltre is and if he can keep himself in shape, he could be one heck of a great pickup for Detroit.

I think Willis will get pounded in the AL. But Tigers now have a
pretty hard hitting lineup. As for Bedard, quality starter is an
understatement. He was in the AL Cy Young discussion before getting
shut down for injury at the end of August. Look at the stat he put up
and look at the teams he pitched against. If you don't think that's
shut down ace material, I don't know what else to say. He would give
the Dodgers somebody to run up against Peavy and Webb. It slides
Penny to #2 followed by Billingsly, Lowe and Schmidt. If Kershaw is
all that he's made out to be, I can see him taking Broxton's spot
easy, like a Joba Chamberlain. Andrew Jones 2 yrs 32 mil, I don't
have a problem with that. Young and Ethier at RF. LaRoche at 3B. So
you upgrade your defense at CF, upgrade your starting pitching, power
will be a wash to slight upgrade with a full season of Loney.
Pitching and defense, just like the old days.

gave up a pot..but it sure looks like they got a pretty fair

on the mound..... For my eyes and ears...Broxton and Kemp for Bedard
sounds out of balance...you pick up a quality starter..but lose a real
key guy in your pen and who replaces Kemp in the OF and power?? For
Broxton, I get that they believe there are guys behind him who can do
the same job...if you trade Kemp...is that a sign you intend to pick
up an A Jones, no matter what??? Dan
