Subject: [DCSteelerNation] Sundays game against the Chiefs
Hey everybody-
I've almost gotten over the debaucle which was Sunday's loss against the Bungles...and am ready for what shouldn't be too difficult of a game against Kansas City.
I'm happy to report that we have raised just under $1500 for a Pittsburgh-area charity this season. If you haven't doneso already, go online to www.dcsteelernation.com to vote for your charity of choice. Voting will remain open throughout the season. A big "thank you" to all of you who support our fundraising efforts each week by donating raffle items, buying raffle tickets and purchasing DC Steeler Nation T-shirts.
I want to give a special thank you to our VP Jobie for updating the Web site with some photos from the season and making a pit stop in PA last weekend to pick up some Steeler merchandise to raffle off for the rest of the season. For Sunday's raffle, we will have our usual gift certificates courtesy of the bar in addition to two Steelers T-shirts, one designed by the man, the monster on the field James Harrison! The other T-shirt features my boy Hines Ward. You know the drill-be sure to purchase your raffle tickets from me before the game and stick around for the drawing at halftime.
With the holidays coming up, what better time to deck out the family in black and gold! DC Steeler Nation T-shirts will be available for purchase for $20 during the game. See me, Neena or Jobie at the back of the main level to pick up your shirt. Fifty percent of the money raised through T-shirt sales this year will be donated to the charity which receives the most votes from DC Steeler Nation.

Hey everybody-
It was great to see such a large turnout at the Pour House yesterday, despite
the game's outcome (seriously...a field goal kicking contest?) It was good to
see some old friends in the for the game and some new faces.
I always emphasize taking care of your servers and bartenders during the games
as they work so hard to make the game an enjoyable experience for all the
Steeler fans who watch games at the Pour House. It is also imperative that we
take care of the bar itself. During yesterday's game, likely during the fourth
quarter, someone made a foot/pint glass sized hole in the base of the toilet
making it unusable and incoveniencing not only the fans, but the bar as well.
This type of behavior is highly disrespectful and I shared the bar management's
frustration over the incident. If you saw or heard anything about who might have
done this, please e-mail me directly at katie@....
Win or lose we always have a great time at the Pour House and the bar staff goes
out of its way to make it that way, so please show them the same respect.
See yinz next Sunday at the bar!

I just wanted to update everyone on the website, the answer is, Yes, I have been completely slacking! At any rate, I have finished a round of updates and wanted to let you know. So head on over to http://www.dcsteelernation.com/ and check out the new group picture on the front page that we all took earlier this year. You can also check out what photos we have from the games (big thanks to guest photographers George and Katie.)
I also wanted to say that you are all doing a great job of helping us reach our donation goals this season, but don't forget that we can always use more. In recent weeks the t-shirt sales have seemed to slow a bit, but with the holidays right around the corner there couldn't be a better time to pick up those stocking stuffers for EVERYONE YOU KNOW! Seriously, who wouldn't want a Steeler Nation t-shirt from our nation's capital as a gift this year; especially considering that $10 of the $20 cost will go to a great charity. So buy some shirts this week (or any other week, we are always in the back booth ready to help) and head over to the website to vote for your favorite Pittsburgh charity. The charity with the most votes at the end of the year will get the entire donation!
Last, but not least, I would like to get the Fan of the Week page back on track. So email me DIRECTLY (jobie@...) with a photo AND write-up about who is your Fan of the Week and why! Be creative and have fun. You may submit your own picture (which I can resize to 347 x 260 pixels) or you can simply find a picture from the photos page and point me to it.
Now get in there and hit somebody!
Jobie
VP, DCSN

Hey everybody-
Here's to hoping the team is well rested from the bye week and Jeff Reed managed
to avoid the police during the break. We're going to have one hell of a game
against Denver, and hope to see you all the Pour House for the game!
We are just about halfway through the season and have already raised $1,181 for
a Pittsburgh-area charity. If you haven't doneso already, go online to
www.dcsteelernation.com to vote for your charity of choice. Voting will remain
open throughout the season. A big "thank you" to all of you who support our
fundraising efforts each week by donating raffle items, buying raffle tickets

Hoping for a great turnout at the bar on Monday...what better place to watch our
favorite team with the most faithful fans!
See yinz on Monday and have a great weekend!

I don't know if any of you read the sports section of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Saturday, but there was an article on Steelers' DL Nick Eason.
Nick and I are good friends and right now he's going through a pretty rough time personally with his cancer stricken mother. She just underwent her 33rd treatment of radiation for cancer.
Please, if you would, send a card or something to support Nick to let him know you're behind him.

I've been blessed to have a painting of mine to be accepted to be a permanent fixture at the new Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pa.(Please visit POST-GAZETTE NOW"Butler artist helps Flight 93 memorial").The memorial needs money.
I've also been super fortunate to have Big Ben, Santonio Holmes, Troy Polamalu (2), Hines Ward, Heath Miller, Nick Eason, and Coach Tomlin to autograph original paintings of them to help out with this cause. I'd love for you see the paintings.
I've priced the autographed prints way, way below the market price to make them affordable for anyone interested in getting these exclusive prints. When I say exclusive, they're very exclusive.
Your group's help is needed.

File : Steeler_welcome.doc Description : Welcome to the DC Steeler Nation Fan Club!
In case you need another reason to get pumped for tomorrow's game, watch this frightening video created by some Vikings fans with far too much time on their hands and overactive imaginations. When will they learn that real men wear Black and Gold...not purple?
Pour House showed the Home Opener on FSN Pittsburgh. I know its not Versus, but they will put on games at request.
Front Page is a Caps bar, but they should have games too for others.
Bugsy's Sports Bar in Alexandria (Old Town) has hockey games too.
Go Pens! Beat Philly.
Peace, Michael J.

Adam,
While we're waiting to hear whether or not our efforts with getting VS back on DirecTV worked, it seems like the only option is finding a bar that has Comcast. The Pour House (and nearly every sports bar around) has DirecTV. I'd suggest calling RFD; they have a big hockey following, so they might even have DIrecTV and Comcast.
If all else fails, you can watch it online at Justin.tv.
I know that this doesn't answer your question, but you may also try to force the DirecTV hand (I had to do this to get the NFL network back on Comcast and it actually worked)
Now that I can no longer access VERSUS on DirecTV, should I switch video providers?
We are hopeful that DirecTV will make the right decision for its customers and put VERSUS back on the air so sports fans can continue to enjoy all of our marquee programming. In the meantime, we urge you to call 1-800-642-1923 to demand that DirecTV puts VERSUS back on or click here for more information about how to switch to another video provider; all of which carry VERSUS. http://versus1.viewerlink.tv/
I usually watch the Pens games at home via Center Ice on DirecTV. Tonight's game, and a few others throughout the season, are on Versus. DirecTV dropped Versus since last season, so I can't watch it. I may be mistaken, but I believe Pour House also has DirecTV.
Anyone know of a place, hopefully in the District, to catch the game? It'd probably have to have Comcast. I may try the Red and the Black, but would love to hear any other suggestions for this and future games, since many playoff games are on Versus as well.

Hey everybody-
This is just a friendly reminder that one of our fanclub members, Lori
Robertson, is trying to organize a bus trip up to Baltimore for the Nov. 29
Steelers vs. Ravens game.
Here are the details:
Bus to Steelers-Ravens game Nov. 29
Leaving D.C. at 5 p.m., returning immediately after the game.
Cost: About $30 - $40 per person, depending on the number of people.
If we have 25 people, we can get a standard mini-bus for about $30
each. With 35 people, we can get a luxury bus with bathroom and TV for
about $39 per person. Might be an extra dollar or two to park this
thing in a stadium lot.
If interested: Contact Lori Robertson at robertson.lori@...
See yinz on Sunday!
