The Liberal Democrats will be objecting to the automatic introduction of
the Highway Code.
The Early Day Motion on the Highway Code has been tabled by Ming
Campbell and Alistair Carmichael (Liberal Democrat Transport
Spokesman). It will appear on the EDM list on the parliamentary web site
tomorrow.
Now may be a good time to contact your MPs about this, emphasising the
concerns that cyclists have with the wording of rules 59 (not wearing a
helmet or bright enough clothing could be deemed a breach of the Code)
and rule 61 (ignoring a "cycle facility" may also be deemed a breach of
the Code).
