Dear
all,
Revolution
Newsletter no 4 January 2009
We hope that you had a very Happy
Christmas and are enjoying a prosperous start to the New Year in spite of all
the economic doom and gloom. The fourth edition of “Revolution”
newsletter is out and has been sent to your MP and local councillors. You can
read it here.
We sent Santa a letter in December.
The presents on our wish list weren’t really what you would expect to
find in your stocking on Christmas morn, but we hope to see them take shape
over the course of the year.
Now our thoughts turn to
Hitchin’s Transport Plan. Will it be a genuine plan that addresses
peoples’ needs and tackles the difficult questions ? Will it be
implemented or will it be like the excellent 1998 plan – a box to tick
and then filed on a dusty shelf. The answers to those questions are in your
hands.
In this issue:
b Dear
Santa…
b Maintenance -
potholes and ice.
b Hitchin
Transport Plan – what we would like to see.
b Personal
travel planning – individual travel solutions for individual travellers.
b Road building
and traffic growth – the myths and the reality.
b How to cater
for cycling on Britain’s roads – the Hierarchy of Provision.
b $300 oil
– are you ready for it ?
b Easy riding
– staying warm.
b Considerate
driving – dip your lights.
b Facility of
the month – dismount, dismount, dismount, dismount, dismount, dismount….
b Good examples
– Copenhagen cycle lanes
We hope you find
this newsletter interesting and thought provoking. If you have any questions,
