I was able to talk to
at the Iceoplex today. I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that one of the sheets of ice at the rink is going to be down for some unexpected repairs for six weeks starting in mid-March. This means that we will not have any time available for curling (free or paid) during this period, and we will be unable to start league play until April. It sucks, but these things happen. Pierre
The good news is that Pierre feels bad about this and is giving us a slot from 5:30 to 8:30 on the 24th, and will try to get us one or two additional slots before the ice comes down. Perhaps we can use these more as “pre-season draws” than regular learn to curl sessions (we’ll still do some teaching, but also try to fire up some games right away).
One thing we need to plan right away is when to assemble the stones – we could do this on the 18th, or late morning on the 24th – we could assemble the stones and move them onto snow to prep for the open house that evening.
I’ll send out an update to the list in the morning – let me know your thoughts on how we should handle the next few months.
