When league play starts later this month, there will be some brooms
and sliders available from the club for the players to use, but not
enough for everyone. If you think you will be curling regularly, I
would recommend purchasing your own broom (aka brush) and slider (or
curling shoes if you're really serious).

A basic wooden broom, like the club brooms, runs about $30. For
about twice that, you can get a nice light fiberglass handle broom
with an adjustable head. Both work well, although I think a
fiberglass broom is worth the extra money (I have a Transformer by 8-
ender, which I'd recommend).

Strap-on sliders generally run under $20. If you're a beginner, get
a full-sole slider. Also, I wouldn't recommend getting curling
shoes until you have some experience - the type of shoe you get will
vary depending on your curling style, and they aren't cheap.

The club will have a small stock of sliders to sell for $18 each,
and we'll have those available at upcoming on-ice events. If you do
want to purchase your own equipment, there are several on-line
retailers. The club has been working with Dakota Curling Supplies
(www.dakotacurlingsupplies.com) to get our equipment so far. Be
sure to tell them you are with Curl San Diego/Elliot Hicks to get
their best price.

Other curling suppliers are available on the internet, but I haven't
dealt with any of them. If anyone has any suggestions, please
forward them to the list.

Good Curling,
-Elliot

I've had good success in the past with both Steve's Curling Supplies (http://www.stevescurling.com/) and Olson Curling Supplies (http://www.olsoncurling.com/)....
