A lucky cruzbike rider emailed this accident report to me on 18th June
2006: John.

I was unfortunate enough to have an accident on this bike, a car cut
in front of me through a break in the traffic and I hit the car at
speed, (no time to get to the brakes, 30km/h approx). I was clipped
into the pedals at the time and as the car went accross in front of me
from right to left. As I hit, the car pulled the bottom bracket to
the left. My right foot did not release from the clip right away, so
my ankle and foot were very badly sprained as I was thrown off onto
the road.

Apart from that however the bike sustained very little damage. The
adjustable top bar attached to the bottom bracket collapsed by about 4
inches soaking up a lot of the impact. The Chain ring was bent and
needed to be replaced, the handle bars got bent too. The chain was
also replaced as a link in it had got bent too.

So the bike sustained a lot less damage than a conventional set up
would have, the front forks would have been totally wrecked along with
a front wheel demolition and who knows what else. My front wheel did
get a little bump out of true however this was easily trued by the
cyclepro.
