Description

During the Fall of 1980, Coach James 'Smokey' Lilly worked with the defensive side of the football team at Robert Lindblom High Scool on Chicago's south side. One day during practice the defensive players that were under Smokey's tutelage were having a pretty good day against the starting offense, which resulted in Smokey, almost jokingly calling us the Crunch Bunch. The Seniors, namely Captain Tim 'TJ' Johnson, starting running back Dennis 'DJ' Johnson, and Angelo 'Gelo' Maynard added credibility to the group of underclassman as the Crunch Bunch was formed.
