Thanks for coming to our first annual tourney this weekend guys... Argyle took home the gold cowskull, pulling away from Gnarwhal to win 15-10. We finished off the kegs, there was great food and great ultimate, and next year we hope to get a few more teams. Thanks again for coming, and see you all at Cooler or Sectionals.

Hey all,
Sorry this didn't go out sooner. This is all still a little bit subject to change based on the out of town turnout. At the moment we are looking at 3 teams. There is a possibility that we will condense into two larger teams, again depending on what happens. Either way everyone will get plenty of PT and fun in the CB sun... by the way team names are whatever you guys want them to be, I had to create teams to fill out the Score Reporter on UPA so I used Rigor Red/White.

I don't have my actual clipboard with the master info on it so I may be missing a few people. If anyone has any issues with the team setup that's fine, just let me know and we can work something out. More people will end up playing - don't worry about having too few players. Captain's meeting is at 8:20 on Saturday and the games start at 9AM.

See ya'll tomorrow night or this weekend.

PS I want to make sure these kegs get drank - we are partying from 8PM-2AM, there better not be any beer left over!

Hey all,
Except for a few small details, everything is pretty much set for this weekend. We are looking forward to some good ultimate and a great time for everyone!

*Pools and schedule are posted on UPA Score Reporter. At this point we have 9 confirmed teams. Unfortunately a few dropped, but I am counting on a 10th happening this weekend for even pool play. Either way the setup will remain basically the same. http://www.upa.org/scores/tourn.cgi?div=20&id=4986

Things are shaping up nicely for our tourney in CB August 9th and 10th. We are looking at 12 teams or so, and I am hoping that Cornfed will be able to bring a bunch of guys down.

To all you Midwest ultimate folk:

Nebraska Club Ultimate (Rigor Mortis) is hosting its first annual 16-20 team tournament this summer - August 9/10, 2008. We know club season is heating up around then, and some of you will most likely be heading to Cooler the following weekend like we are. Come check out the tournament we have planned for you, it¢s going to be great ultimate and an awesome party.

Great Fields - We will actually be in Council Bluffs, Iowa, right across the Missouri River from Downtown Omaha. We have the exceptional facilities of the Council Bluffs Sports Complex for our full enjoyment, booked hotels and the tournament party are only 5 minutes away. Painted lines, etc. The CB Parks and Rec are sponsoring the event and are doing everything they can to make this weekend an awesome time for you.

Great Party - Free food and beer (for those of age) at The Spillway, a great bar near the fields and next door to the Western Inn. I¢ll personally reserve enough kegs and guarantee that the beer will keep flowing all night long. All this plus live music in the private upstairs of the Spillway.

Bids are $200. The champion will receive a free bid to next year¢s tournament, and the top 3 will receive something real special and obscene which we haven¢t decided upon yet. Each team gets a game disc, bagels/fruit/water, and 6 games guaranteed. Concessions available for sale at the fields as well as merchandise. (Free buffet at the party - great bar food). Dogs are allowed on the complex, drinking not allowed.

If anyone has financial issues there is limited housing available with Rigor Mortis players. We will make whatever accommodations we can for teams in need.

We would love to have as many interested teams as we can handle. Nebraska ultimate is growing and this tournament will help us to expand even more.

Hope to see you here in August,

Tim Hoarty

I'm off to Europe soon, which means Thursday is your last chance to receive a beautiful huck in the endzone from me.  I especially want to see all you old guys that have been around since before time.

Greetings nebraska ultimate people

Jumpin Joe's is the 24-26th in Ozark, MO for Memorial day weekend. Interested folks should email me back or call me or whatever. It'd be nice to get enough people for two teams, so if you are interested in great camping and ultimate let me know.

Hola,
I'm sending this out to everyone that has expressed interest in club ultimate this year... Our first tournament is Mayfest, which I have not confirmed the date of yet. It's either May 3rd and 4th or May 10th and 11th, and I'm pretty much sure it's the 10th and 11th. Anyway, practices this year will be once per week on Saturday afternoons from 2-5PM at Memorial Park.

I'll know the dates for sure sometime this week after my emails to KC get returned. I'm honestly not sure how many people we are expecting to have out at practice, but if it gets to be a large amount of people I have no problem sending 2 bids..

Also I guess it's important to say that ANYONE is welcome to come to practice and be on the team. We aren't doing tryouts or anything, I think we all know each other well enough on the field. But if you want to play at tournaments, come to practice or you'll just be drinking beer on the sidelines (or at home on your couch).
Mayfest was our first tourney last year and we went 1-5. Let's use these two weekends to ensure that this doesn't happen on trip dos.

See ya'll out there
Hoarty

you'll look like less of a slimeball if you don't write up some big

effect.

Hola,
The date for our first annual tourney in August has been set for the 9th and 10th. Met with CB parks and rec/city officials yesterday and got most of the details hammered out.

Name: TBD - Ideas more than welcome as I am uncreative.
Location: The exceptional facilities of the Council Bluffs Sports Complex
Division: Club Open
Teams: 20
Party: Free food and beer @ the Spillway in CB + live music
Cost: $200 per team
Concessions sold at the fields (teams get free bagels/fruit/water)
Housing: Limited free housing with Rigor Mortis players available. Room blocks reserved at several hotels minutes from the fields, including the Western Inn which is ten feet from the bar where the party will be held.

At this point we are looking for anyone and everyone interested in helping out in some way to shoot us an email. We need people in several areas including shirt design, field setup, people to man the tables/tents for merchandise/food, photographers, masseuses, any sponsor ideas, scorekeepers/golf cart gophers, etc. Rigor mortis guys will take care of field cleanup.

Hope everyone can clear their calendars for that weekend, it promises to be a good time.

Hoarty

Hey Everyone,

This email regards the teams that won't make or won't be attending Central Regionals.  Our contact list isn't up to date, so I apologize in advance if this email doesn't concern you.

UW-Platteville Udderburn will be hosting its first tournament, "Udder Madness", on the Platteville campus the same weekend as Central Regionals (April 26 & 27).  If your team is looking to play more springtime ultimate, this tournament is for you.  It is an 8 open team tournament, bids are only $150 and due April 18.
It will be round robin, starting at 9:00 AM on Saturday.  The 8 teams will be split into 2 brackets, with each team guaranteed 3 games on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.  Fruit, bagels, and water will be provided for players and after play on Saturday there will be a free dinner (probably brats and/or burgers).

I understand the interest of some teams depends on making it to Regionals (which is why bids are due April 18), but let me know if your team is interested ASAP.

Thank you,

Jon Messner

We're not having practice tonight so everyone can get
back into their school schedules and we can start up

however, that you still can't go to the rec and throw
if you want to.

P.S.

Me and Ian are offering our house to crash at tonight for those players that are getting kicked out of the dorms at 10am tomorrow and all others that want to party it up before you go Spring Breaking It Up.  So all those interested can start showing up after 7pm today.

Hey all,
Looks like our four teams are:
Creighton
Rockhurst
Omaha 1
Omaha 2

As far as dividing the Omaha people up, here is a rough draft. Feel free to suggest differently or whatever, this is off the top of my head. I tried making it as even as I could.
Team 1
Joel
Hopps
Eric Rice
Shank
Elvis
Bo
Watson
Jamie
Rachael Green
Jackie Horani
Nate
Brian Foley

Team 2
Boyd
Rick
Puck
Hoarty
Aguilar
Mullen
Robin
Mark Brannen
Michelle Marron
Melanie Sehr
Doug Foley

If there are any other players who need to get on a team that's fine, the more the merrier.

Subject: West Plains Sectionals

Hey Captains,

I'm Mike Lun, the West Plains SC. This is my 3rd year doing this, so I think most of you know me by now. It's time to start taking care of College Series stuff again. If you are no longer in charge of your team please provide me with updated contact info for your team or try to point me in the right direction (if you are able to).

Here is some vital info about West Plains Sectionals:

Date: Apr 12-13
Location: Ames, IA

If you have any questions or concerns about the date and/or location of Sectionals please email me. I will send out more details soon. In the meantime...

Please reply to this email providing the following:
1. Current contact information for your team.
2. Do you plan to attend Sectionals this year, yes or no?
3. If yes, do you plan on bringing a B team?

You should've received an email from Geo, the Central RC, about Regionals by now. If you haven't, let me know, and I'll forward it to you.

Rostering info and registration deadlines will not be posted on the UPA page until Feb 8. I am unsure why HQ is behind schedule this year. I ususally have more info to pass along by now.

What I can tell you: It's crucial that all teams submit their rosters on time, both for your sake and for the growth of the Central Region. In recent years the West Plains has been the best section for submitting on time rosters in the region, which is why we had 5 bids to Regionals last year (a record for us), but we still had a few late rosters. If you hope to compete at Regionals this year, submitting your roster on time can greatly improve your chances to qualify. Getting a size bid to Nationals will also depend on how many rosters we submit on time. I'm expecting 10-12 teams to compete at Sectionals this year compared to last year's 9, so I know the region is growing and we have a shot at that size bid.

To ensure that we submit our rosters on time I'm going to set West Plains' I will send out specific dates and instructions to get your roster submitted on time and correctly after Feb 8th. The process is simple, but I would like to make sure all of us get everything done on time. For now, here's your assignment (Note: this isn't an official UPA deadline):

Feb 18: Make sure your entire team is registered with the UPA for 2008 by Feb 18th, 2008. This takes about 5 minutes per person online. You can find all the info you need here: https://www.upa.org/members/login.php

If you have any questions, please email me.

Good Luck this season,
Mike Lun
West Plains SC

Subject: UPA 2008 College Series Roster Info

(Sorry if you get this email more than once... My work email account isn't cooperating, so I'm using gmail instead)

Captains,

Hopefully all of your teams have started completing the roster for the College Series. I will be sending out a separate email shortly with tournament details.

Visit: http://www.upa.org/college/rostering_101 for detailed info about rostering. The process has changed this year, so you'll probably want to look at it even if you've done this for a few years.

Summary of the main difference: There is no longer a late registration deadline. Now there are still 2 key dates regarding rostering to be aware of, and of course you'll want to remember the tournament dates:

  1. March 21st (5pm MT): 2008 College Registration Deadline
      • All teams must have a valid team roster, of at least 7 players, registerd by this date.
  2. April 4th (5pm MT):  Finalized roster deadline.
  3. April 12-13: West Plains Sectionals - Ames, IA

IMPORTANT: Don't sweat it if you can't get everyone on your rosters by March 21st. As long as you have 7 players registered by March 21st, you're allowed to make as many additions to your rosters as you want by April 4th. I would also like to clarify that this is the Open division and you cannot be registered for an Open and a Women's team during the Series for the few of you that this may apply too.

I was planning to write a little outline to submit your roster, but the UPA's directions more than suffice. Again, you can find those directions here: http://www.upa.org/college/rostering_101 . I would like all teams to have a roster in the mail by March 11th, or before your spring break (which ever date comes first). Many teams in the past have waited until spring break to do this and discovered they couldn't get their teammates' info on time. I will send you weekly reminders until the deadline.

If you have not done so yet, please email me along with the following info:

  1. Current contact info for your team.
  2. Do you plan to attend Sectionals this year?
  3. If yes, do you plan on bringing a B team?

I have had confirmations from the following teams:

  1. South Dakota State
  2. Iowa
  3. Iowa State
  4. Iowa State B
  5. Cornell College
  6. Nebraska - Omaha

I am expecting to hear from Luther, Luther B, UNI, Maharishi, Nebraska, and Grinnell. Please respond ASAP. If you are not the contact anymore, please try to point me in the right direction.

Email me with questions.

Mike Lun, West Plains SC
