Captains,

Hopefully all of your teams have started completing the roster for the College Series. I will be sending out a separate email shortly with tournament details.

Visit: http://www.upa.org/college/rostering_101 for detailed info about rostering. The process has changed this year, so you'll probably want to look at it even if you've done this for a few years.

Summary of the main difference: There is no longer a late registration deadline. Now there are still 2 key dates regarding rostering to be aware of, and of course you'll want to remember the tournament dates:

  1. March 21st (5pm MT): 2008 College Registration Deadline
      • All teams must have a valid team roster, of at least 7 players, registerd by this date.
  2. April 4th (5pm MT):  Finalized roster deadline.
  3. April 12-13: West Plains Sectionals - Ames, IA

IMPORTANT: Don't sweat it if you can't get everyone on your rosters by March 21st. As long as you have 7 players registered by March 21st, you're allowed to make as many additions to your rosters as you want by April 4th. I would also like to clarify that this is the Open division and you cannot be registered for an Open and a Women's team during the Series for the few of you that this may apply too.

I was planning to write a little outline to submit your roster, but the UPA's directions more than suffice. Again, you can find those directions here: http://www.upa.org/college/rostering_101 . I would like all teams to have a roster in the mail by March 11th, or before your spring break (which ever date comes first). Many teams in the past have waited until spring break to do this and discovered they couldn't get their teammates' info on time. I will send you weekly reminders until the deadline.

If you have not done so yet, please email me along with the following info:

  1. Current contact info for your team.
  2. Do you plan to attend Sectionals this year?
  3. If yes, do you plan on bringing a B team?

I have had confirmations from the following teams:

  1. South Dakota State
  2. Iowa
  3. Iowa State
  4. Iowa State B
  5. Cornell College
  6. Nebraska - Omaha

I am expecting to hear from Luther, Luther B, UNI, Maharishi, Nebraska, and Grinnell. Please respond ASAP. If you are not the contact anymore, please try to point me in the right direction.

Hello folks,
Anyone who is interested in Jumpin Joe's this spring take a peek. I've got 2 possible dates and it looks like we will need two teams from Nebraska, although if we have enough players/if Creighton goes we will probably do three teams.
 
It looks like we can do either March 29-30 or April 5-6. I know UNO has been talking about Huck Finn and Fools Fest, which are on those weekends, but Sectionals is April 12-13 and Regionals is April 26-27. I doubt anyone wants to go the weekend between those, and anything later is tough because of final exams for those of us in school.
Again,
March 29-30
OR
April 5-6
Ultimate Paradise is a much better time than either of the tournaments on those weekends and it is close as well, only 6 hours away.
 
So far, the player list/rosters look like:

If everyone could please email/call me back with which date works better that would be great.
If you're going, I need to know for sure by March 1st. As soon as we have enough confirmed players we can figure out how we want to put teams together.
Cost at Joe's is usually very low - normally we give him about $30 for the weekend per person, which is a hell of a deal for 5 or 6 delicious hot meals and camping/ultimate all weekend. If there is any other cost I can think of I'll let you all know.

Hey guys,
Not sure if any of you have heard of Jumpin Joe's in Ozark, Missouri. A guy named Joe Borden, who is a sort of regional ultimate legend, runs the place and it's basically a huge acreage that he's built into what he calls an Ultimate Paradise. It's got a stream running through it, a sweet ultimate field, outdoor kitchen with breakfast and dinner every night, 14 hole disc golf course, kegs, bonfires, etc. I've been there a few times now and I think it's seriously my favorite place on earth. There are tons of old-time ultimate players that bring their families for the weekend as well as younger college-aged guys.
 
Anyways, Joe holds three events every year and most of the time its a hat tournament, but this year he is asking me to help him set up a small tournament/retreat/camping trip/whatever with 4 teams. He's hoping that I can guarantee him 2 teams from Nebraska, and the other two will most likely be from Springfield or somewhere else in Missouri or Arkansas area. It's only 6 hours away, it's very low cost, and it's a damn good time. Anyone wanting to play is welcome to, just email me back if you are interested and we can go from there. Cornfed and Creighton - he'd love to have you both down there.

For anyone in or around Omaha on the 29th, we are having a game at the dome (aka Chili Greens) at 7:30 on SATURDAY Dec. 29th. (before I said Sunday the 29th. sorry...it is Saturday).

If you are coming, be sure to bring either a UNO or NU ID of you will not be allowed in. Also try to be a little early because I think we get kicked out at 9.

If there are enough of each team to play each other we will do that...if not, we will just play.

Also...party at my house afterwards!

UNO has finally stepped up and we have an indoor turf field (In the dome that used to be Chili Greens).

We are working out the possibility of playing there during break. We were thinking about scheduling it as a scrimmage against you guys...that way we can get people who are not UNO students in for free.

We are limited with times, but we were thinking either Thursday Dec 27th at 9pm or Sunday Dec 29th at 7 or 8pm. (Hopefully more, depending on how it goes.)

Let me know if you are up for playing some disc during break...inside. =)

If you haven't paid your dues yet, please give me $50
or go to the club office (CREC 55) and tell them you

Practices are at 5:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 2 on Sundays.  All
