I think Ian's right, we need to start doing leg work now if we want to have any kind of tournament in the fall.  Realistically, we aren't going to be holding a championship event in the fall, and there is only a slight chance that we will host a regional in the spring.  That means we have to focus on our own club tournament for this fall. 

Some things to start on-

1.  Everyone can start thinking of a name while they are bored at work.  That means Ryan should have plenty of suggestions.
2.  Along with the name, think about whether we want any special kind of format.  Do you think that the tournament would be better attended if we made it for "rookies?"  etc.
3.  Does anybody have ideas for a party, I see that as the thing that could take the most work/money.
4.  Fields- I don't know the fields in Lincoln as well as Ryan or Grant might, so one of you should start making calls and make sure to reserve early so we are assured a place to play.
5.  Date- I would prefer a weekend without a home football game and with no other big tournaments scheduled.  I don't know what the date of sectionals will be, but Oct. 16th and early November look okay at the moment (just throwing that out there.)
6.  Who do we want to come?  Personally I would like to invite UNO/some Omaha team, SLU, Emporia State, Iowa State, and K State.  Other than that, I think we want to invite any other team that is within about 4 hours.  If anyone has contact info for these teams or others, I can take it and start emailing people to see if they are interested and when their team would be available.  (Seems like a good secretarial -read bitch work -thing to do.)

We can probably figure out a name and date in the next week through email and from there its a question of getting teams to come.  8-12 teams is the number that I would like to see.

As far as hosting a championship event is concerned, I think it would be great for our image and Nebraska Ultimate, so we should try to get that accomplished.  It also sounds like something that is a year or more down the road, so at this point we just need to make sure we qualify and work with the city to set some goals and apply.
