Tuesday evening, January 23rd, we will be having a night pistol match. A white light either hand held or gun mounted for target illumination is mandatory. Night sights and/or laser sighting system are optional. So, open your nightstand and bring the real deal out to shoot.
 
No new shooters at this match, please. CCPC members and LEOs only.

Copperas Cove Pistol Club

3rd Annual Single Stack Challenge Match

March 31, 2007

 

This is a specialty match for traditional single stack 1911 pistols in 45 ACP. Your single stack 1911 pistol, holster and magazine carriers must be legal for IDPA CDP Division or USPSA Single Stack Division. Magazine capacity may not exceed 8 rounds (downloaded 10-round magazines are not allowed.) This will be a heads up competition. Certificates will be awarded for 1st through 10th place finish overall. CCPC Action Pistol rules and scoring will be used for the conduct of this match except where IDPA and USPSA equipment rules are applied.

Our next Temple Gun Club IDPA match will be April 21.  Since I only had one request for a classifier, we will be running a regular match.  Round count is 66.  There will be a couple of stages designed for reloading and malfunction drills so practice up.
 
I will be at the range at first light (about 0700) and can use help with set up.  We should be hammer down by 0830.
 
Following the IDPA match, we will have a carbine match for fans of the short rifle.  Hope to see you there.

I don't often get a chance to correct scoring mistakes made on the score sheet after the fact, but today I can. I just got off the phone with Terry, and he was quite amazed that he had run a 24 round stage (stage 3) in 8.14 with a reload and one point down. He remembered hearing the SO call off a time of 16.75 give or take. With one point down that comes to 17.25, and it changes the standing somewhat. Thanks for the phone call, Terry!
 
I don't know exactly what happened on the ground, but we always try our best to get it right and we never stop working at it.

This Saturday, June 2nd will be a regulation IDPA classifier match and CCPC club classification match. IDPA members please bring your current membership card and classification card. This is a 90-round match. The round count is limited. Concealment garments are not required.

Hey folks. For July we have something different and exciting for you. We will be participating in a nationwide IDPA Postal Match sponsored by a couple of guys from the Phillipsburg Pistol Club in New Jersey and the Northeast Pennsylvania IDPA. We will publish scores for our match as usual and we will submit your scores for the four Postal Match stages for nationwide results.

What: IDPA Safety Officer Training and Certification
 
When: Saturday, 30 June 2007, 0800-1700 (half day classroom time, half day range time)
 
Where: Lloyd's Range - in the barn and on the range.
 
Trainer: Terry Burba
 
Who may attend:
  1. IDPA members who want to be trained and certified as an IDPA Safety Officer. These will be the primary students and will receive all of the hands on training with Terry.
Limited space will also be available for:
  1. Current IDPA Safety Officers who want to monitor the training and refresh their knowledge.
  2. Non-IDPA CCPC members who want to monitor the training and help out as Safety Officers at our Action Pistol and 3-Gun matches. (These students will receive hands on range training with Steve and Tom)
Cost: $20 - IDPA Safety Officer initial certification. (includes course materials, facilities, and lunch)
         $15 - Monitor Training (includes copy of course materials, facilities, and lunch)
         $5 - Monitor Training without copy of course materials (includes facilites and lunch)
 
What to Bring: Range gear/eye and ear protection/concealment vest/pistols/ammo (exact round count will be published soon, should not be to many bullets)
 
RSVP by 16 June - Must have IDPA number for new students and IDPA number for current IDPA Safety Officers monitoring the training. If you just want to monitor the training, please specify whether or not you want a copy of the course materials. 
 
Up front we want to thank Terry and Lloyd for their support of this training.

Please, never shoot shotgun slugs, rifle or magnum pistol rounds at any of the club's steel targets.
 
It has and will damage the steel and potentially unsafe.

Next Saturday, July 7th we will be participating in a nationwide IDPA Postal Match. 
 
We will publish scores for our 6-stage match as usual, plus we will submit scores for all active IDPA members for the four Postal Match stages for nationwide results.
 
To date, scores have been submitted for 220 shooters nationwide with a full month left for more entries. This is the next best thing to participating in a major sanctioned match.
 
Even if your IDPA membership is not current (shame on you) be sure to come out anyway to shoot the match, as I will post scores for the postal match stages separately so you can compare your results.
