demonstrates that his judgment is guided by politics not principles.  A

your state. I urge you in the strongest possible terms to say "NO" to
Eric Holder.

Good Morning to all from central Indiana!!! Getting back into pistol
shooting (after 20 years or so). Just purchased a Springfield XD(m) in
9mm and it shots like a dream (okay, a little low and left, but that
maybe me). I plan on shooting in my first IDPA match this Saturday
(01/03/09). I'm here to learn more about IDPA and other action
shooting sports.

Also, I'm 56, married for 33 years and have 2 daughters, a son-in-law
and 1 grandson.  My other hobbies/interests include:  ham radio,

       The presidential primary season is finally over, and it is now time for
       gun owners to take a careful look at just where nominee Barack Obama
       stands on issues related to the Second Amendment. During the primaries,
       Obama tried to hide behind vague statements of support for “sportsmen” or
       unfounded claims of general support for the right to keep and bear arms.

       But his real record, based on votes taken, political associations, and
       long standing positions, shows that Barack Obama is a serious threat to
       Second Amendment liberties. Don’t listen to his campaign
       rhetoric! Look instead to what he has said and done during
       his entire political career.
       FACT: Barack Obama opposes four
       of the five Supreme Court justices who affirmed an individual right to
       keep and bear arms. He voted against the confirmation of Alito and Roberts
       and he has stated he would not have appointed Thomas or
       Scalia.17
       FACT: Barack Obama voted for an Illinois
       State Senate bill to ban and confiscate “assault weapons,” but the bill
       was so poorly crafted, it would have also banned most semi-auto
       and single and double barrel shotguns commonly used by
       sportsmen.18
       FACT: Barack Obama voted to
       allow reckless lawsuits designed to bankrupt the firearms
       industry.1
       FACT: Barack Obama wants to
       re-impose the failed and discredited Clinton Gun Ban.15

PBS has always been liberal.

I honestly can't stand McCain and especially not Obama...but I like Palin.
If I vote for McCain it will be because of Palin.  As a conservative woman,
I can say that I finally have a woman running for a high possition who can
speak for me...instead of some liberal, man bashing, pro abortionist,
feminazi saying she represents me!  Gag!

Anyway...I voted, it is 49% and 49%.

Hi Everybody!

I found a short video on the Guns & Ammo Website on slicing the pie
techniques.  It is under the Personal Defense TV area and shows Clint Smith
(Thunder Ranch)  moving around a door in their shoot house.  There were
radius marks on the floor to show a proper movement.  Thanks all!

I agree with everything that Karl has said.
When we do live force on force exercises with airsoft,
and search as a single person, the searcher ALWAYS dies.
Too many blind areas where a bad guy can hide in plain sight.
You need a team of 2 in order to clear without this result.

If you are concerned about a break-in, here is what our SWAT Capt. suggests:
Keep your cell phone next to the bed.
When you hear a noise that worries you, call 911 immediately.
Tell them where you are in the house.
Have you and your wife get behind the bed on the other side from the door.

This all assumes that you don't have family members on the other side of
the house and in vulnerable locations. If you do, you have a big problem.
You have to make a choice about the amount of risk you a personally
willing to take.

As Karl stated, there is NO way you will learn what you need to learn
from a video. You need to not only get training on the techniques, but
you MUST get the experience of having someone out there in the dark
in a closed environment who can shoot back. The first timet that you
do this, even in training, your adrenaline will spike your heart up to
an unbelievable level. You need to experience the uncertainty enough
times so that if it happens for real, your heart rate won't go high,
keeping you from really being aware of your surroundings.

It's repeated, continuous training with force on force (meaning a guy
hidden in the dark who can shoot back) that will really prepare you
and help you to understand the risks of clearing a building as a single person.

Pieing the chart is only about entering safely and that's still risky.
The real problems come afterwords when you start into the room and
are faced with all of the blind spots.

   (sort of) but I haven't seen any book or video that covers the pros and
   cons and applications of those techniques to realistic situations.
   The only good source for that is in-person training, preferably that
   includes force on force and not just live fire shoot house drills (where
   the targets patiently stand there and wait for you, without attacking,
   no matter how slow you go or how much noise and light you produce).

I might recommend you contact the North Carolina Justice Academy in Salemburg,

As I say, I have been out of the loop for a while but they used to hold a SWAT
round-up competition of the various teams in North Carolina.  The best teams
always competed and the rest of us learned.  They have a 360 degree tire house
we used for house clearing live fire exercises.

I suggest them because I know they used to at least photograph the competitions,
and video would not be out of the question.  If they could help you, it would at
least give you a "southern-style" glimpse of how we do things doune heah.
