This looks valuable, folks.

I think it would be beneficial if we could give it the widest distribution
to make more California shooters aware of it.

They need help with their fight with those working to remove their Second
Amendment rights.

I am the Secretary of California Citizens for Self-Defense, the
organization that we created to act as the champion for this initiative,
and we will be filing for the Title and Summary within the next couple
of months. The target ballot is either March or November 2004, and
signature-gathering should begin over the summer to fall of this year.

Two years ago, we gathered around 660,000 signatures, but fell short of
the 673,000 we needed to put it on the ballot, but thanks to the dismal
turnout in the Simon/Davis race, we now only need 580,000 signatures.

Our mailing list, taken from the return addresses on the envelopes used
to submit the petitions (since using the petition signers is illegal)
numbers about 3,000, and we'll be sending out a postcard or some other
manner of mailing to validate the list in the near future, once we put
together the money for it.

In the meantime, we need everyone in California to add their names to
the contact list at http://www.CApropRKBA.org/volunteer.html so that we
can notify you immediately when the time comes to start gathering
signatures.
