Happy "Second Amendment Day," everyone!   Message List

In addition to remembering Pearl Harbor on this 66th anniversary of the
attack, we should also be celebrating a time when our Second Amendment
rights were called forth by local government officials to counter an
imposing danger to the Republic.

On December 7th, 1941, the attack on Pearl Harbor caused the Governor of
Hawaii to call a muster of individual U.S. citizens, bringing their own
firearms with them, in an effort to protect the state from further invasion.
These armed civilians manned security check points along roads, and
patrolled beaches for possible enemy forces. War concerns on the mainland
brought forth 15,000 Maryland Minute Men, asked to perform similar services,
and armed with their personal weapons.

A "well regulated militia" is the whole body of the people who are practiced
with the use of their own firearms, and are therefore able to effectively
use them in time of dire need - be that state, national, or personal.

Happy "Second Amendment Day," everyone!
