I think he was trying to protect IDPA and also keep outsiders from
continuing to view Californians as nuts. He just really chose a bad
way to do it.

Gentlemen, IDPA is not a political forum, nor is it a forum or
shooting sport that encourages this type of rhetoric or activism,
whether it is pro or con for the EPA "gun" ad and the social policy it
proposes.
This discussion, commentary, and personal preferences by IDPA members
needs to come off this site immediately....or there are going to be a
few less IDPA members in the State of California. Any perceptions,
opinions, beliefs, or suggestions should be kept either to yourselves,
or voiced in another forum. If you wish to be activists, join the NRA
if your are against the ad and this social policy; or if you leaning
the other way, some liberal group of your choosing. I expect to see
this topic end immediately! Thanks for your time and attention to this
request. Bob Lee - IDPA Area Coordinator (Calif/AZ/Nev).
P.S. If you are unhappy with my decision, please email me at the
following address idpa_norcal_ac@..., and include your name and
email address, so when I terminate you, you will not have to wait
around for the written response.

And keep in mind that Headquarters did not back up his threats to kick
out members who disagree. Overall, IDPA is NOT this dictatorial.
Best,
Jim Griffiths, Match Director
California State IDPA Championships
