John Forbes Kerry - The Mouth That Roared   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #2052 of 2391 |
Vietnam veteran and 'war hero' John Forbes Kerry did more damage to the
Democrat cause with his blundering tongue on Monday than the Republicans
could ever hope to thank him for.

Kerry's words on the 30th of October lit a fire storm that will be
filling the airwaves and mail routes of America until election day, and
beyond - angering military personnel, veterans, and their families. (By
official figures, there are 24.5 million U.S. military veterans - all of
whom may well take immediate offense to Kerry poking them in the eye
with his sharp-stick words.)

I think Kerry picked his words carefully when he spoke in front of that
audience of students in California on Monday. Further, I think his
intended message was included in the simple words he chose to use - that
without an education in America, you will be forced by economics into
joining the military, and ending up serving in a war.

There must have been several heart attacks and strokes among his
political handlers when his mouth opened and those words fell out on
that stage - in front of those cameras.

The Kerry camp response to the furor has been to claim Kerry's words
were a botched "joke" about George Bush and not a slam on military duty
and those who serve. How could anyone possibly think otherwise? John
Forbes Kerry is a war hero, after all - and loves his little veteran
buddies.

In years past, such a giant political and career-killing blunder could
be buried my the old-media - but that didn't happen on Monday. The power
of the blogosphere was there to record and transmit his words directly
to the Internet, and to the public, without the old media being able to
control the distribution.

Unless I miss my guess entirely, yesterday's vocal backlash against
Kerry's words was only a weak-sister of what will be seen in these few
days to come before the election.

Only one questions remains:

"How did Karl Rove get John Kerry to say those words the week before the
election?!?!"
