April 13, 2008 -- Chapel Hill, NC -- The 4th Annual American Swimming
Association
University League Nationals Championships proved to be a powerful display of the
growth
and rising level of competition of collegiate club swimming this weekend, where
only 14 of
50 national collegiate club swimming records were able to withstand the
onslaught of
record-breaking swims at UNC-Chapel Hill's Koury Natatorium. Colorado dominated
the
meet, winning the men's, women's, and overall team competitions and sweeping all
four
relay events in record time. Rounding out the top three in the team
competitions were
UNC-Chapel Hill and Penn State with second and third place respective finishes
in all three
divisions.
Colorado swimmers set 25 national collegiate club swimming records at the meet,
including five in individual women's events by Katie Klane (25 fly 12.11, 100
back, 100 fly
58.49, 100 free 54.05, and 50 back 27.31), who also swam on all four
record-breaking
Colorado relays. Bryan Kim of Temple University set five new records on the
men's side
(100 I.M. 52.68, 25 breast 12.37, 100 free 47.13, 200 I.M. 1:52.61, and 100
breast 58.01).
