COLUMBUS, OH - April 23, 2006 - Colorado Swimming and Diving of the University
of
Colorado at Boulder swept the 2nd Annual ASA U. National Championships, coming
away
with the men's, women's, and overall titles. The University of Virginia was
runner-up in all
three categories, followed in overall scoring by Univ. Tennessee, Ohio State,
Georgia Tech,
and Northeastern, respectively.

Swimmers at ASA U. Nationals enjoyed taking advantage of the American Swimming
Association's progressive rule-book that allows for non-traditional events such
as the 25's
and features stroke rules that allow starting from the blocks on backstroke,
flip-turns in
all strokes, and let teams strategically select their own stroke order on medley
relays.
These innovations added a new level of excitement and fun to the weekend's
competition.
The American Swimming Association University League is an association of
student-run
swim clubs from colleges and universities across the United States that enjoy
the sport of
swimming in a friendly, competitive environment. ASA U. was founded in response
to the
elimination of so many collegiate varsity swimming teams across the country.
