--- Week's Training Details ---
05/28 Run. 4.8 mi in 37:04 (7:43). Ran to Blockbuster to return some movies and back. Then I did 4 hard intervlas and a hard 400. It was a beautiful morning, I felt light, smooth, and strong. [none]
05/29 Swim. 1600 yrds via 4x400 with an average 200 split of 3:12. 200's: 2:59, 3:12 (6:11); 3:11, 3:17 (6:28); 3:14, 3:16 (6:30); 3:11, 3:14 (6:25). For some
reason I was sore before I even started swimming this morning? I had different goggles than usual and had some leakage problems (I hate that). [sore ribs, water leakage].
05/29 Run. 5.4 mi in 44:53 (8:18) cross country style at the soccer fields. The plan was 10x.6mi loop, but twisted my knee during my 8th lap and decided to call it off after the 9th. Lap splits 5:29, 5:11, 4:49, 4:52, 4:53, 4:50, 4:45, 5:08, 4:54. It was very hot and sunny, just dripping in sweat. [heat, R-knee]
05/30 Bike. 13.2 mi in 42:48 (18.5 avs). I mixed in two 2-mi intervals on a trail ride before needing to ride over to the soccer complex for oldest's soccer
game. Other than my allergies burning my eyes out and the heat, this was a good, short ride. [heat, allergies]
05/31 Swim. I had the rare opportunity to go to the pool with my wife and work with her on some technique and did some drills with her. No serious swimming. [none]
06/01 Run. 5.0 mi in 38:12 (7:38). I ran 6x800 intervals, each was hard for the first 2/3, and recovery on the last 1/3. I was working from home and got an early start so I could take a mid-day run. It was very hot, the last two recoveries were rough. 88F/36%H, and sunny. [hot]
--- Week's Commentary ---
A good week of training. I felt strong and smoother in the run
as I continue to transition out of the orthotics. My swim was normal on Tuesday and got some good drills and quality time with my wife on Thursday. The bike went really well, albeit hot and my eyes were burning. I would like to get more time on the bike but it has been difficult to squeeze in.
I did some yoga and road the mountain bike a couple of times to run some short errands instead of driving to get some bike time and save on gas <smile>.
My oldest told me this week that she would like for me to train her for the Disney Kid's Triathlon... we are going to shoot for 2009 and do some local ones first to get some "practice" <smile>.
