Being out of football for a year thanks to foolishly following Clarett
and having not played in the cold before, I'd be more inclined to take
Braylon Edwards as much as I despise that team up north. Otherwise it
seems that since we have become the DLmen shuttle to Denver, don't we
also need DLmen that can fit a 3-4 scheme mold.

Williams from USC. Yes he has not been in football for over a year but
he is a stud...the tall reciever we need. Plus just think about him

KW2 to NYJ for Abraham? Anyone hear anything
'bout this? Could just be a rumour, but......
Lemme know!

For a separate project, I've begun compiling

Because it is rather long, I'll not post it here.
Just send me an off-list request and I'll get

i say draft mike williams of braylon edwards early, linemen the rest of the way,
use the WR next season and show em off while observing the changes already made
in the O line ...if those changes dont work, use the WR as trade bait for either
draft picks , or veteran linemen

I don't think you can accuse the current front office of neglecting the
offensive line. Two of the free-agent acquisitions were veteran offensive
lineman.

I hope Crennel will trade down and get some good offensive line pics.
We really need it. It has been a problem for us since the Brownies
return. Does anybody have any input to this?
The offensive line has been poor since we returned to the NFL. Why I
ask has this problem gone on for so long. I first thaought it to be
the coaching staff was defensive minded. I am not sure that is the
case. In the past dreafts they have picked possible defensive
superstars in the making who have always washed out Courtney Brown
for instance or the try for the high doller high profile running
backs wich we dont really need or the same with the quarterback
position. When will the front office figure out that you cant have
good offense without a line to protect the qb and open holes for the
back. Does anyone agree with me. If so please let me know as I feel I
am not alone in this thinking.
Veteran guard to sign four-year contract
By Len Pasquarelli, ESPN.com
The toll road that leads from Foxboro to
Cleveland, where former New England Patriots
defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel is the new
coach, is officially open for business.
In Crennel's first free agency signing period as
Browns coach, ESPN.com has learned that veteran
guard Joe Andruzzi, who started all but three
games for New England during its run of three
Super Bowl titles in four seasons, has defected
to Cleveland as an unrestricted free agent.
Andruzzi, the first Patriot to leave to play for
Crennel, agreed Wednesday to a four-year, $9
million contract. The deal will be signed later
this week.
By acquiring Andruzzi, the Browns have begun the
refurbishing of one of the NFL's worst offensive
lines. At the combine last week in Indianapolis,
first-year general manager Phil Savage used the
term "dire straits" to describe the state of the
Browns' interior line.
Even with the addition of Andruzzi, who was a
stabilizer on New England's blocking unit when it
suffered through injuries, Cleveland will
continue to pursue veteran offensive linemen.
Andruzzi, 29, began his career as an undrafted
free agent with the Green Bay Packers in 1997.
The former Southern Connecticut State player was
signed by New England in 2000, after the Packers
released him.
A tough in-line blocker and good pass protector,
Andruzzi has started in 76 of his 95 career
appearances.

Crennel accepts offer from Browns
By Pat McManamon, Editor
February 6, 2005
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - It appears the Browns
finally have their new head coach.
The Browns offered the job to New England
defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel shortly after
Super Bowl XXXIX and he accepted.
Negotiations between the Browns and Crennel's
agent, Joe Linta, were to begin Monday at the
team's Berea, Ohio, facility.
The Browns hope to announce Crennel's hiring on
Tuesday or Wednesday, and then let him start
building a staff.
Crennel earned the offer with an impressive
interview with Browns owner Randy Lerner, team
president John Collins, and general manager Phil
Savage on Jan. 7.
"I put my best foot forward," Crennel said on
Super Bowl Media Day on Tuesday. "If their
impression was that I floored them, then that's
great."
Crennel's message?
"That I'm a capable individual and I can handle
the job," he said.
Crennel would replace Butch Davis, who resigned
in November. Crennel has been the Patriots'
defensive coordinator since 2001 and has played a
key role in New England appearing in three of the
last four Super Bowl titles.
He worked for the Browns as defensive coordinator
in 2000, and previously worked as special teams
and defensive line coach for Bill Parcells in New
York and New England. The Giants twice won Super
Bowls with Crennel as an assistant coach.
Crennel said he brings "a certain amount of NFL
winning experience" to a team.
"I've coached special teams, defensive line, been
a coordinator and been successful at all those
positions," he said. "Being able to deal with
players - I can deal with people, the media and
the whole bit. I think you will see that I can
handle myself, handle players and handle the
team."

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
I've been a Browns and Indians fan since I was a fetus. Our last
Championship, I was 3... so needless to say I don't remember it. All
I want before I die is to see a coach wearing brown/orange to smile
to the cameras as he lifts the magnificent Stanley Cup, no wait...
Lombardi Trophy above his head. The pain and anguish us Browns fans
endure cannot be measured by any means yet known to mankind. Now we
have a beer company thinking they're cute by having referees throw
flags on us in our personal lives, I don't know how much more I can
take. And, to top it off we have McNabb's soup-can warming-up mom
reminding us of John (beat Cleveland then SUCK in the super bowl)
Elway. Yes, fellow dawgs.... GOD REALLY DOES HATE CLEVELAND.
I've said it before and I'll say it again...
maybe next year.
Crennel could be Browns next coach
By Howard Ulman / Associated Press
BOSTON -- The head of a group that helps minority
candidates said Friday he had a "very
encouraging" conversation with the Cleveland
Browns about Romeo Crennel's chances of becoming
head coach.
"They said that his interview was excellent, that
the owner was thoroughly impressed with him, that
they liked him a whole lot," said John Wooten,
chairman of the Fritz Pollard Alliance.
Crennel, defensive coordinator of the New England
Patriots, will coach in the AFC championship game
Sunday in Pittsburgh against the Steelers.
Two other assistants still in the playoffs,
Philadelphia offensive coordinator Brad Childress
and Pittsburgh offensive line coach Russ Grimm
also were interviewed. None of the three can be
hired until his team is eliminated.
The Browns also interviewed Terry Robiskie, their
interim coach who went 1-4 after Butch Davis
resigned.
Wooten said he called the Browns after Crennel's
interview, his customary follow-up with minority
candidates to see if the team had any
recommendations about how the candidate can
improve for future interviews.
"They said, "'No,' that he was outstanding,"
Wooten told The Associated Press in a telephone
interview from his home outside Dallas. "I said,
'So we can conclude he's in excellent position?'
and they said, 'Yes, he's an excellent
candidate.' We also know they like other people."
On Sunday, Childress will coach in the NFC title
game against Atlanta before Crennel and Grimm
coach from opposite sidelines in the AFC game.
Wooten was an offensive guard with the Browns
from 1959 to 1967. That team became the Baltimore
Ravens in 1996 and a new Browns franchise began
in 1999. He's also held front office positions
with Philadelphia and Baltimore.
He said he last talked with Browns president John
Collins on Wednesday night.
The Browns have not spoken publicly about each
candidate's chances. The Patriots were en route
to Pittsburgh on Friday night and did not
immediately return a call seeking comment.
Crennel, 57, is in his fourth season as the
Patriots defensive coordinator after one season
in that position with the Browns. He has been an
assistant on four Super Bowl champions - in the
1986 and 1990 seasons with the New York Giants
and the 2001 and 2003 seasons with the Patriots.
He also interviewed for the San Francisco 49ers
head coaching job that went to Baltimore
defensive coordinator Mike Nolan.
Crennel's agent, Joe Linta, said Friday he had
not spoken with Browns officials since the
interview about two weeks ago with Collins,
Browns owner Randy Lerner and general manager
Phil Savage. Last year, Crennel interviewed with
several teams, including Buffalo, Oakland,
Chicago and Oakland. The previous season he spoke
with San Francisco about the job that went to
Dennis Erickson
"One of the problems (in getting hired) is you
have to be a hot guy and for years he never had
the benefit of the press backing him," Linta
said. "After a couple of Super Bowls and the way
(the Patriots) played, the guy couldn't hide
anymore."
The Browns could make an announcement as soon as
Sunday night.
Wooten said he last spoke with Crennel on Tuesday
or Wednesday..
"I just told him that I heard tremendous things
out of Cleveland. Just keep on doing what you're
doing," Wooten said. "It's more meaningful for me
for him to come in as a champion."

it is a damn good interview. please football gods grant him and us
the browns faithful a great future.
in the interview he talks about being a browns fan and even reading
books by Terry Pluto including false start which i think should be
definite reading material for anyone in the browns staff.
