COLUMBIANA - Football has comeback to the area.
On a dreary day, preparations began for the 30th Annual Penn-Ohio Stateline
Classic.
Practicing in a light rain at Firestone Park in Columbiana, the Ohio team - led
by Poland coach Mark Brungard - went through position drills and got an
introduction to it's offensive and defensive schemes.
With Brungard, an offensive minded coach, calling the plays, the Ohio offense
will surely be explosive.
The only two local teammates to be included on the team's 36-man roster are
Southern's Nathan Melhorn (running back) and Tony Pastore (offensive lineman).
Other local players participating in the game include: East Palestine's Tom Delo
(linebacker), Edison's Jesse Byron (linebacker), Matt Bolen of East Liverpool
(linebacker), Russell Paugh of Beaver Local (tight end), Wellsville's Greg
Rayburn (offensive lineman) and Lisbon's Aaron Sweeney (wide receiver).
The squad will return to practice Thursday.
The game will be played at 7:30 p.m., June 27 at Geneva College.
Tickets can be purchased at Don's Barber Shop and Sitler The Printer in
Columbiana, the Hot Dog Shoppe in East Palestine and the Sports Connection in
Salem.
