Newspaper ad for a Roller Derby game
This group centers on Classic Roller Derby from the 1950s and on. Topics of conversation are not limited to only Roller Derby, however. We are a family here So feel free to stray into other subjects as long as they are of general interest to the group and don't offend anyone.
There are rules here! Please read them. Violators will be sent to the Penalty Box and repeat offenders will be banished from the group.
1. No fighting, name calling, back stabbing, or XL-sized egos are allowed in this group. Those type of individuals are not wanted here. You are more than welcome to join other Roller Derby groups, but that kind of behavior won't be tolerated here. 2. This group is for CLASSIC ROLLER DERBY. This means men's and women's mixed teams, a banked track, and traditional rules. We do not support Roller Girls here. We don't want to hear about their leagues or their games or their players. They are not Roller Derby in the traditional sense and should not call themselves that. For the most part they skate flat track - not banked track, with different rules and women-only teams. And what the heck's a "bout" ? Roller Derby teams skate a game -- with uniforms -- not fishnet stockings and corny names. It's nice you're skating, but you are tarnishing the great name and tradition of the REAL Roller Derby. Call yourself Roller Girls and be happy with it.
Both skaters and fans are welcome here, but membership is limited to invitation only or by applying for membership and being accepted by the group owner. Potential members applying under an "alias" or "nickname" may be asked to provide a real name to the group owner. This is for the protection of our group and members and will not be revealed to anyone.
We now have a companion web page at: www.classicderby.com -- see you there!
