You gotta win, bottom line. Paying Casey 8.5 was not going to get us
to a WS. He was over 30, slow, only could play 1st. and was overpaid
for his production. The Yankees and Red Sox can keep someone like
that, the Reds in the economic climate cannot. Now, you have a young
outfield and some pop at First Base. You lost virtually no offense.
And true fans would see this as a smart strategic move. Plus, Casey
goes to his hometown to play in front of friends and family. I'm happy
for the guy.
