It was Palm Sunday and, because of a sore throat, five-year-old Johnny
stayed home from church with a sitter. When the family returned home, they
were carrying several palm branches. The boy asked what they were for.
"People held them over Jesus' head as he walked by. "Wouldn't you know it,
" the boy fumed. "The one Sunday I don't go, He shows up!"

===CHILDREN'S SERMON===
One Easter Sunday morning as the minister was preaching the children's
sermon, he reached into his bag of props and pulled out an egg. He pointed
at the egg and asked the children, "What's in Here?" "I know" a little boy
exclaimed....."Pantyhose!"

===MATRIMONIAL PROPOSAL===
The prospective father-in-law asked, "Young man, can you support a family?"
The surprised groom-to-be replied, "Well, no. I was just planning to support
your daughter. The rest of you will have to fend for yourselves."

===JUST CURIOUS===
Little Johnny asked his grandma how old she was. Grandma answered, "39 and
holding".
Johnny thought for a moment, and then said, "And how old would you be if you
let go?"

===THE TITHING===
A little boy in church for the first time watched as the ushers passed
around the offering plates. When they came near his pew, the boy said
loudly, "Don't pay for me Daddy. I'm under five."

===THE BLESSING===
The Sunday School teacher asked, "Now, Johnny, tell me, do you say prayers
before eating?" "No sir," he replied, "We don't have to. My mom is a good
cook!"

"Oh, I sure am happy to see you, " the little boy said to his grandmother on
his mother's side. "Now maybe Daddy will do the trick he has been promising
us. The grandmother was curious. "What trick is that?" she asked. "I heard
him tell Mommy that he would climb the walls if you came to visit us
again," the little boy answered.

My husband bought me a mood ring the other day. When I'm in a good mood it
turns green. When I'm in a bad mood, it leaves a red mark on his forehead.

When my three-year-old son opened the birthday gift from his grandmother, he
discovered a water pistol. He squealed with delight and headed for the
nearest sink. I was not so pleased. I turned to Mom and said, "I'm
surprised at you. Don't you remember how we used to drive you crazy with
water guns?" Mom smiled and then replied. . . "I remember."

US AirWays recently introduced a special half fare for wives who accompanied
their husbands on business trips. Expecting valuable testimonials, the PR
department sent out letters to all the wives of businessmen who had used the
special rates, asking how they enjoyed their trip. Letters are still
pouring in asking, "What trip?"

=== Life After Death ===
"Do you believe in life after death?" the boss asked one of his employees.
"Yes, Sir," the new employee replied. "Well, then, that makes everything
just fine," the boss went on. "After you left early yesterday to go to your
grandmother's funeral, she stopped in to see you."

dems...Actually I think these statements make him a more likeable endearing

SIMPLCITY......GOODNESS...AND TRUTH.... ~ WELCOME to the Wednesday January 15,
2004 "Field of Dreams Today"...The email that never bets on baseball.... ~ THIS
DAY in 1967 ...The First I Super Bowl Game was held...It was not officially
called "The Super Bowl" in those days..Most thought it was going to be the NFL
destroys the AFL...... ~ Good Call by the MIAMI DOLPHINS in bringing in DAN
MARINO to run the football operations..... ~ THE WAT WE Were....At Peninsula we
had a stadium built in 1947..And a scoreboard that should have been in a
museum....On the surface it looked OK..We painted it every year and had a nice
team logo on it..But it was outdated...Not made anymore - including parts....So
what do you do when parts go bad...Well first you take the AT BAT parts and
paint over that area...Than you take the light that shows what team was up to
bat.....Now you are getting low on parts..So you take the extra 10th inning
  parts....So everything is working now right?? Yes..Until it rains..THAN the 2nd

editorial piece I had published in "The Courier Record" yesterday...Thanks to

Baseball legend Pete Rose came out with his new book "Prision without bars''
last week. After agreeing to a lifetime suspension from baseball more than a
decade ago he now finally admits that he did indeed wager bets on baseball. He
bet on the very team he was managing, the Cincinnati Reds. Rose says he only bet
on his team to win and never from his stadium office but from his home. This
admission comes after years of denial that he ever bet on baseball.
Why now? What makes his timing so special? One reason is probably because he
needs the money and this book will sell alot of copies. But the main reason is
probably because his normal eligiblity to Baseball's Hall of Fame runs out in 2
years.After that he would have to face the Veterans committee which is much more
strick than the normal voting process. Since he must first be reinstated to
baseball before he can be nominated to the Hall of Fame he is putting on the all
out push to get back in. The question is should he?
There is no doubt that Pete Rose has the stats to be in the Hall of Fame. No
player has accomplished so much with determination than Pete Rose. He was not a
natural raw talent performer. He had to work for everything he did.I was with
the Philadelphia Phillies in 1980 when the Phils won their one and only World
Championship. We would have not done that without Pete Rose. I have met Pete
Rose. He's a good guy. But does that excuse what he did? Does baseball give Rose
a pass and still ban "Shoeless" Joe Jackson? Jackson was a member of the eight
"Black Sox" - the name given the Chiacgo White Sox after the baseball betting
scandal in 1919. Many of us think he had no or very little part of that scandal.
He had an outstanding World Series and it does not appear he threw any game.Yet
he was never reinstated or made a member of the Hall.
Baseball rule 21(D) "Betting on ballgames by any player,umpire,club or league
official or employee who shall bet any sum whatsovever upon a baseball game
which the bettor has a duty to perform  shall be declared PERMANENTLY
ineligible" This poster in large letters is in every dugout and locker room in
pro baseball. From rookie league minor league baseball to major league baseball.
I, like Rose, signed a form every season agreeing that we would never bet on
baseball. Some ask why betting in baseball is such a big issue. The fact is that
baseball was almost destroyed in 1919 when the Chicago White Sox had eight
players that bet and threw the World Series. Had Commissioner Landis not stepped
in and acted with the resolve that he did baseball may have died because the
public would have never regained faith.And Baseball would have never regained
it's integrity.
Pete Rose was betting on his team,the Reds, and managing them. While he may have
bet on them to win he still could have made decisions that were based on his
gambling. Changing of the lineup. Taking a pitcher out to early or leaving them
in to long. Starting a player that is hurt that really should not be playing.
All of these and more are possible and probably did factor in. This is totally
unacceptable.As manager he had total control of these decisions.As a member of
the baseball family these actions strongly offend me.

The American people are a forgiving group. If Pete had admitted his problem a
decade ago and started to make ammends he perhaps would be back in baseball.
Instead he blamed baseball. He blamed his former friends. He lied to the
American public and his former teammates. He disgraced himself and hurt
America's pastime.Also why not come out in a public setting and admit this
instead of writing a book where he profits from the announcement? Perhaps he
should have all the proceeds of the book go to a gambling addiction program. But
this is not the case. Even if he does not get back into baseball he will still
make money on the book.
  I do believe that he has a sickness and that the gambling addiction is a
disease. But even so he still must face the actions of that addiction and what
he did. To this day he has not.
So should Pete Rose be allowed back into baseball - NO. Should Pete Rose be
allowed in the Hall of Fame - NO. I am not saying ever but this is not the time.
Rose needs to give back to all the people he lied to. He needs to realize the
damage he did to the integrity of baseball. One day he may be ready to again be
a part of the baseball family. But I am a part of the baseball family and for
now I say no. And that's my Field of Dreams.

many of you actually read your email. Your response will be
interesting! People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a
lifetime. When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do.
When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need
you have expressed outwardly or inwardly. They have come to assist you
through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid
you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a
Godsend, and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to
be
Then, without any wrong doing on your part or an inconvenient time, this
person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up or
out and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need
has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done. The prayer you
sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on. When people
come into your life for a SEASON, it is because your turn has come to
share, grow, or learn. They may bring you experience of peace or make
you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They
usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is
real! But...only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; those things
you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your
job is to accept the lesson, love the person/people (anyway); and put
what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of
your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.


The PRESENT is the gift from God that you receive when he puts
someone in your life, whether it be for 5 seconds, five years or fifty
years. God doesn't promise us any certain time with someone and it's
what we make of that time that is our gift from God. That's why we call
it the PRESENT. So enjoy the PRESENT from God.

  1987 I was both the GM and play by play announcer for the Peninsula White
Sox....On a trip to Durham we had one of our pitchers BRYCE HULSTRUM traded to
another team...He was not to dress for the final game in that series..And our
field manager didn't want to allow him to ride back to Hampton,Va with us....He
and I were both battling the Chisox brass over the issue...It was an insurance
thing...But I was not going to let him be stranded in Durham...Anyway Bryce
crawled through the little side window of our field level closet press box to
help me with color...He also was bringing "adult beveages" - Beer  - in...Now I
was always a "Homer" broadcaster...A "Homer" is a radio announcer...play by play
announcer or press member that tilts heavily towards the home team...You can
turn on a game and know who the person broadcasting is working and pulling for
(Except VIN SCULLY.The Dodgers announcer's team, the Dodgers, won the World
Series once and in a low quite voice he said "The Dodgers
  are Champions of the World...No emotion..No enthusiam...HMMM) ...I was not just
the radio guy..I was the PenSox GM....I was employed by them and I supported
them...Anyway as I was doing my best Harry Carey ...Our comments on the Chicago
White Sox were less and less positive....I was pretty angry at them at the way
they handled his trade....And the bus ...And he was upset, mad and
devastated....I think the Chisox owner's parentage was even questioned..Well we
were something like 3-18 at the time..Anyway Bryce actually did go back on the
bus..And actually was sent back to the White Sox because of an injury....Man I
hope there is no copy of that tape.....There is another tape from my Astros
years..But we will leave that for the book..MAYBE...From "Big League
Dreams"...... ~ From "The Hypochondriac's Handbook".....There are about 200

think you can see what a thoughtful and insightful man he is...He and his wife
Linda have touched my family's life in so many ways that have been a blessing. I
am honored to call both dear friends... ~ Lots of Welcomes today...I talked to
my good buddy RON SCHEER last night..Ron a former Chicago White Sox was with me
in Peninsula in 1986 and 1987....We have a great Winston-Salem Hyatt Hotel road
trip story that will be in "Big League Dreams"....I still get mad that the maids
cart would not fit in the bus!!..WELCOME my good friend!!!....Also my good buddy
GYLE CLEMENTS joins our family today...Gyle manages upscale restaurants
  and his "Ground Round" in Auburn, New York was our biggest supporter for the
AUBURN ASTROS "Cayuga County's ONLY Professional Sports Team"...We have a couple
of  baseball stories as well...WELCOME...And I spoke with Assoc Editor DAN
TAUKEN last night and he sends his best...I was made an adopted Uncle to little
Dan and am honored... Dan and wife Jody expect their 2nd child in
Feb....CONGRATS!! ~ My Grandfather took a bunch of the family to lunch
today..And yes you guessed it Cousin Dan was there.....We talked politics for
THREE hours and yes I am still right.....But Dan did admit that "Howard Dean is
probably "unelectable"...I am not sure the rest of the family enjoyed our opine
but he and I have not really talked politics for 3 years so we caught up....So
from the RIGHT it was me ...And from the FARRRRRR  FARRR FAR left was Cousin
Dan....It was good to see evryone..Yes.. even you Dan.....He and I are Virginia
Cavalier fans..So we  agree on something.... ~ From te book "How to Be a
  Christmas Angel"......"Make time during the holidays to strengthen family
ties"...Speaking of "Family Ties" I really liked that "Alex P Keaton"
caracter..... ~ THINGS that bother me...Radio stations that stop playing
Christmas music at midnight the 26th...The holidays go until Jan 2 guys and

  The Passenger

11/14/2003 - RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany (AFPN) -- Like most Americans, I find
that I am pretty selfish sometimes.  I learned just how selfish on a recent trip
to Iraq. I was sitting on a C-130 Hercules waiting to leave a location I can't
spell or pronounce, when we got delayed.  I was annoyed.  I'd been traveling for
hours trying to get to my destination and here we were, stuck in some
out-of-the-way place and I was hot, tired and ready to get there already.  Then
it happened. I found out we were waiting on another passenger.

I didn't know his name. I say 'his' but I didn't know if he was actually a he or
a she.  I didn't know what branch of service he was in or what rank he was.  All
I knew was that this passenger cost me another hour and a half on that plane.

Little did I know how profound an impact "The Passenger" would have on me. You
see, this passenger that we had to wait on, who delayed our trip and annoyed me
and the other passengers, was a casualty of war.

The ground crew brought him on board in a body bag.  They laid him down between
the jump seats and the cargo pallet, and covered him with Old Glory.  At that
moment, I felt the heat of shame in my face.  Who was I to worry about a little
lost sleep or a few extra hours on a plane when he had given his life in this
war?

By this time, everyone on board had stood up out of respect and, when they had
"The Passenger" secure, the sergeant leading the crew called the plane to
attention and barked a quick command.  Every man and woman on that plane, from
private to colonel immediately snapped a crisp salute in honor of the ultimate
sacrifice made by "The Passenger".  It was a moment of perfect unity. Every eye
on that flag, every arm raised in respect, every breath caught in every throat
for just one second.

With our respects paid, everyone took his or her seat and prepared for take-off.
I don't know about anyone else on that plane but I found myself contemplating
what this passenger's sacrifice meant: to me, to our country, but mostly to his
family.  I found myself wondering what he gave up for the war on terror. Did he
leave a wife behind when he deployed?  Did he have children out there somewhere
who would never see their father again? What about his parents, brothers and
sisters?  How would his family cope with his death?

Was the sacrifice he made for his country worth it?  To his family, perhaps not.
To the Iraqi families, maybe.

You see, I learned something else on this trip.  I learned how the Iraqi people
are living. Ramshackle houses... no cars... no central air, or any air
conditioning for that matter, none of the so called 'modern conveniences'.  I
also learned that, thanks to our efforts, some of the kids are now able to go to
school for the first time in years.  Teachers are allowed to teach in multiple
languages and cover subjects that were banned during the old regime.

Clinics are opening all over the country, doctors are no longer afraid that if
they misdiagnose someone it will cost them their lives.  That's right, there is
no malpractice insurance in Iraq. A doctor at one of the clinics told me that,
under the old regime, if a doctor made a mistake, he paid for it with his life. 
So was "The Passenger's" sacrifice worth it? I guess it depends on your point of
view.

Then I started thinking about my own family. How would my wife deal with my
death if it came on this trip?  Would my children be ok?  How horrible would it
be for my parents to outlive me? I thought of my brother and his family in
California. How many times have I meant to call them only to get distracted and
forget?  I haven't seen them in almost four years. My sister in Illinois hasn't
seen me in a couple of years either. When was the last time I called her?  Why
haven't I e-mailed her or my niece lately? I use to send her e-mails every week
or so, but I seem to have let my oh-so-busy life get in the way of communicating
with the ones I love.  Do I write enough?  Call enough?  Definitely not.  I
think that's what it all comes down to.

We get so wrapped up in our lives that we forget about the other people in this
world.  We forget that not everyone lives in a free society.  We forget that
sometimes you have to stand up for people who can't stand up for themselves.  We
forget that we have a responsibility to the people of this world, and not
because we are a super power or have the best military in the world, but simply
because we all share this planet.  We forget that, for good or bad, what one
person does affects everyone.

What we can't forget is that we never know when the moment of our death will
come. Don't forget to tell the people who are most important to you how much you
love them and how much you miss them.  Don't forget to take time out of your
'busy' schedule and call your family and friends.  Don't forget to do something
today that will make a difference tomorrow, so that when your time comes someone
can say 'Thank you for the sacrifices you made, you had a profound impact on my
life.'

So to "The Passenger," I say thank you.  Thank you for serving your country. 
Thank you for standing up for people who can't stand up for themselves.  Thank
you for making the ultimate sacrifice.  Most importantly, thank you for making
me realize that our time on this earth is never certain and we'd better do our
best to make it worthwhile.  May you find peace and happiness wherever you may
be.

Now, if you will excuse me, I have to go call my kids, my parents, my brother,
my sister...

During last evening's Christmas Eve Candlelight/Communion Service we sang "Joy
to the World" for the first time this Christmas Season. And since last evening's
service all the world seems to be singing "Joy to the World," and rightly so.
Christmas is an uplifting celebration of God's grace and peace coming to live
with humankind in His Son Jesus. ~ But as a pastor I am aware that Christmas can
be painful if we're in the grip of grief or depression, there is little joy to
be felt. This joyful season often brings with it painful memories, awareness of
a loved one's death, a deep empty space. ~ James Montgomery knew those feelings.
James's parents left him in a boy's school at the age 12 while they went as
Moravian missionaries to the West Indies. He never saw them again. James
suffered from depression and the pain of abandonment throughout his life. As a
young man and a newspaper editor, he shared his parent's commitment to the poor
and championed the 19th century movement against
  slavery. He was jailed twice. ~ In December of 1816, at age 45, he was once
again in the grip of Christmas depression. He read and pondered the Christmas
story in the second chapter of Luke's Gospel. He began  deeply yearning for the
good news in Bethlehem to come - to the West Indies, to him in England, to all
the world. He put pen to paper and wrote, Angels, from the realms of Glory, Wing
your flight o'er all the earth. ~ He continued to write. His final verse, not in
most hymnals, is a poignant claiming of God's mercy for himself and all those in
anguish: Sinners moved by true repentance, Doomed for guilt to endless pains,
Justice now revokes the sentence! Mercy calls you, break your chains. Come and
worship, Worship Christ, the newborn King. ~ Out of James Montgomery's hurting
heart has come one of our most popular Christmas Carols. In the words of another
great hymn, Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal." ~ Dear brothers and
sisters, today we celebrate how God's mercy
  came to us powerfully at Bethlehem. It can come to us still. Today I will pray
to that end for us all. ~ May you have the most joyous Christmas ever. ~ Grace

John's "Field of Dreams Today" December 23rd "Merry Christmas Email" was truly
inspiring. I appreciate how John leaves no doubt in our minds as to what he
cherishes in life and what he has been waiting to receive this Christmas. ~ A
great deal of our Christmas preparation is spent in waiting. We've all had to
wait and we really don't like it and certainly don't appreciate being told to
wait. None the less we all, especially the people of God, find ourselves waiting
whether we like it or not. And what we are waiting for and fully expecting is
Jesus to come any minute now to do something for us we cannot do for ourselves.
~ What are you waiting for this Christmas? We have been taught in Sunday School
or by our parents to say, "We are waiting for Jesus" all the while knowing in
our hearts Jesus has already come. Sometimes we play out the Christmas Story as
if it never happened. Maybe that is why we are so stressed out in our waiting.
We want to experience the baby Jesus once more. But
  the reality is God's Son, the Christ, is already here seeking entrance into the
hearts and lives of an obedient people. ~ Maybe what we really need to be
waiting for this Christmas are sign's of God's Kingdom in our midst. Christ
awakening a new sense of ethics within us, a new sense of selflessness, lifting
us out of self-pity, and causing us to care for others more than ourselves. What
we are really waiting for this Christmas is new life, a new vision of what life
can be like for us in the Christ who has already come. ~ We aren't the only ones
waiting. There's someone else waiting, too. It's God. What do you suppose God is
waiting for this Christmas? ~ Theologian Helmut Thielicke, has renamed the
parable of the prodigal son. He calls it "The Parable of the Waiting Father".
The waiting father's steadfast love never gives up on us. He is patiently
waiting at home for us wise men and women to wise up, and the shepherd in all of
us to wake up, not just to a baby in a manger but to who
  Jesus really is. ~ The waiting father, who do you suppose he's waiting for this
Christmas? ~ I pray in this season called Holy that both you and the waiting
father will receive your heart's desire. ~ Thanks be to God for His unspeakable
gift in Jesus Christ our Lord!

"America's Holiday Sprit Email"......SLOW DOWN THIS CHRISTMAS...ENJOY THE MAGIC
AND THE MIRACLE OF THE SEASON...... ~ WELCOME to the Christmas plus 3 "Field of

our Assoc editor and my protege MARC TECHMAN on the Miami Dolphins beating
Buffalo....Even though I lived in New York for 5 years...I really hate the
Buffalo Bills...Can you say Choke.... ~ From The Front Office...I was thinking
today about athiest....We may have some on this list and that's ok...But I
thought how sad...To go through life with nothing to look
  forward too after this life...To miss small miracles everyday and call thm a
coincident...To not celebrate in the mystery of faith...To not know the love of
God...To simply exist and not believe in anything spiritual....While of course
they have freedom from religion in this great Country...I still say HOW
SAD...And that's my Opine..... ~ The Way We Were....While in Auburn we played in
Falcon Park - The oldest minor league ballpark in America.....We had a storm one
summer day and our roof top press box fell to the pitchers mound...So the city
built us a make shift wooden hut until a new press box could arrive....It was a
shack...But our new shiny pre built all steel press box arrived....Great until
we had thunderstorms..It was like standing under a tree with a lightning rod and
saying "Strike me"...But old Falcon Park is now just a memory - But Marc and I
still hold the all-time attendance record at "Historic Falcon Park"....Marc how
in the world did we pack 55,000 people in that
  old place....From "Big League Dreams"....Today's Christmas Tip...Buy a dated
Christmas ornament every year and start a tradition that will last for
generations.... ~ TERROR ALERT IS ORANGE -High ~....Pull The Tarps....Friends
make Christmas Special....That's the Monday "Field"...Remember Be Alert...Be

to my surprise the movie "Titanic" is showing...As you know I have been having
some "Titanic" moments this week..But had no idea it was on this week....I was
thinking...Not only did "Rose" (Kate Winslet) "Let Go"...When promising to
"Never Let Go"..But she was nominated for the Academy Award...And poor Fish bait
"Jack" (Leonardo DiCaprio) got no nomination....I never did
  think Leonardo was the best choice for the part...I mean "Rose" was twice as
big as him and refused to share that drift wood...So he became a popscicle and
she is still roaming the earth...The Movies slogan was "Nothing On Earth Could
Keep Them Apart"....Except that selfish "Rose"... ~ OK let me explain the
Titanic thing...I really like the movie alot..I know that when they said "They
would never let go" it was a statement about their feelings for each other..But
I enjoy picking at "Rose" sometimes.... ~ Today's Featured Web Site
http://Titanic.com ....They offer a free 50 mb email..I even have one
JohnGraham@... ....Free 50 mb emails are very very rare these days... ~
I have found that during this festive time of year that many people sing..And
that's great..But some people SHOULD NOT sing...Let their be joy in the air with

Christmas card envelops...Cut off the address label and tape them in a
  special Christmas address list..It will save ime writing them in a book or

was watching a Christmas movie on "Lifetime" yesterday...It only had 10 minutes
left...But than their logo popped up "Television for Woman"...So I had to turn
to Spike TV.... ~ Trim the Tree....Let your Christmas Joy Show......~ That's the
Sunday "Field"....I have included an e-christmas card

look, he knows peek-a-boo. " Nobody thought the old man was cute. He was
obviously drunk. My husband and I were embarrassed. We ate in silence; all
except for Erik, who was running through his repertoire for the admiring skid
row bum, who in turn, reciprocated with his cute comments. We finally got
through the meal and headed for the door. My  husband went to pay the check and
told me to meet him in the parking lot. The old man sat poised between me and
the door. "Lord, just let me out of here before he speaks to me or Erik, " I
prayed. As I drew closer to the man, I turned my back trying to sidestep him and
avoid any air he might be breathing. As I did, Erik leaned over my arm, reaching
with both arms in a baby's "pick-me-up" position.  Before I
  could stop him, Erik had propelled himself from my arms to the man's. Suddenly
a very old smelly man and a very young baby consummated their love relationship.
Erik in an act of total trust, love, and submission laid his tiny head upon the
man's ragged shoulder. The man's eyes closed, and I saw tears hover beneath his
lashes. His aged hands full of grime, pain, and hard labor, cradled my baby's
bottom and stroked his back. No two beings have ever loved so deeply for so
short a time. I stood awestruck. The old man rocked and cradled Erik in his arms
and his eyes opened and set squarely on mine. He said in a firm commanding
voice, "You take care of this baby. " Somehow I managed, "I will, " from a
throat that contained  a stone. He pried Erik from his chest unwillingly,
longingly, as though he were in pain. I received my baby, and the man said, "God
bless you, ma'am, you've given me my Christmas gift. " I said nothing more than
a muttered thanks. With Erik in my arms, I ran for the
  car. My husband was wondering why I was crying and holding Eric so tightly, and
why I was saying, My God, My God, forgive me. I had just witnessed Christ's love
shown through the innocence of a tiny child who saw no sin, who make no
judgment; a child who saw a soul and a mother who saw a suit of clothes. I was a
Christian who was blind, holding a child who was not.  I felt it was God asking,
"Are you willing to share your son for a moment?"  When He shared His for all
eternity. The ragged old man, unwittingly, had reminded me, "To enter the
Kingdom of God, we must become as little children." If this has blessed you,
please bless others by sending it on.  This is to remind us that Christmas isn't
about material things!

night at the last home game she got her revenge....The final awad was to our
field manager.....A dozen BLACK ROSES....I think she proved her point....From

the BCS Championship Game....NOTE to the NCAA.......PLAYOFFS....... ~ Is it just

"We Will NEVER Forget" .....DECEMBER 7TH,1941 ......WILL GO DOWN AS A DAY OF

today....They died as heroes and not in vain...Our Country came together and put

Wakefield,Virginia today to attend Church at The Wakefield United Methodist
Church....The Church that "America's Pastor" and Assoc editor G.C. Branton III
now presides over.....He had a powerful message for all assembled and truly
inspires everyone that has ever heard him....He and his lovely wife Linda also
had their Christmas Open house afterwards....It was wonderful to fellowship with
them and members of his Church.....The food was great...The house looked so very
festive and it was a great time..Thanks G.C. and
  Linda!!.....I am forwarding a Christmas "Field" that G.C did last year in honor
of today...He will do our Christmas Day "Field" this year.... ~ AND I got back
in time to see the REDSKINS win...Yes Win...And finally we honor the Men and

During Sunday's Children's Christmas Pageant we noticed a bright beam

light was focused on the manger. As we traced the light to its

we found that many of the children had not heard the entire Christmas

little stressful but fun to work with children who were interested in
learning the Christmas story.

During one of the Christmas Pageant rehearsals I noticed that one of
the
children, while holding a doll taken from the nursery, would
occasionally
peer into the manger and appeared to be talking to the doll we used
to
portray the baby Jesus. Despite the high noise level and movement of
children around him he remained focused on the child in the manger.
Suddenly
he startled everyone by positioning his doll beside the Jesus doll.
It was
more than one child could take. She reached in the manger and
grabbed the
intruder doll casting it to the floor. Both children were distraught
and
began shouting insults at each other which soon turned into a shoving
match.

Pageant rehearsal being almost over I chose to speak with each child
at the
manger. I spoke first to the child who had cast the doll to the
floor. She
was frustrated because the story's integrity had been compromised,
saying
that, "Mary placed Jesus in the manger. It wasn't right to have two
babies
in the manger." Who can argue with orthodoxy - that's what the story
says!

It was the other child's turn. For having heard so little of the
Christmas
story he did well remembering it was Mary's duty to place Jesus in
the
manger. Then he said something that profoundly changed my view of
the manger
forever. He said, "The manger looked so big and Jesus looked so
lonely that
I asked the baby Jesus if it would be OK if we put another baby in
the manger
to be his friend." Jesus told him it was OK and asked if he would
like to
get in the manger with him.

My young friend had entered the story through the manger and
connected to the
one who would never abandon him in his loneliness or treat him
badly. He had
found the one who would accept him as he was and would stay with him
always.
It was then I realized that God's encompassing love for us is so
great it
takes in the entire world and there will always be room for another
baby in
the manger. We know this because the words in John's gospel say, "For
God so
loved the world He gave His only begotten Son ...." The cross does
cast a
shadow on the manger and we are saved because of it.

This Christmas Eve may we discover like my young friend discovered
that God
in Jesus Christ will never abandon, reject or hurt us but chooses to
cuddle
us in His powerful love forever. And it is a love that says there is
always
room for another baby in the manger with Jesus.

  I was coming out of Walmart on Saturday and a bubba type man said "You from
Kentucky"..I am thinking is this giuy nuts....But I was wearing my High School
shirt I bought last week in Hampton - KECOUGHTAN HIGH
SCHOOL.......KENTUCKY.....KECOUGHTAN....Does that say Kentucky?? And would they
really have one state high school called Kentucky High???....Now don't get me
wrong Kentucky is a beautiful state...But I am a VIRGINIAN.....HMMMMM..... ~

as long as you BEAT AUBURN, you were safe as a coach. Go 11-1 and
lose to
Auburn, well ask Bill Curry. I remember for awhile, this game was
played on
the Friday after Thanksgiving. People would be in the parking lot at
Legion
Field in Birmingham in their RV's on TUESDAY. Yes, Thanksgiving
dinner in a
stadium parking lot. I love it....BARRY BONDS is the greatest player
in
Major League Baseball, just ask him....People are irate that CBS
televised
the Victoria Secret fashion show calling it soft porn. Here's a hint
to you
all - TURN THE CHANNEL. These groups also complained that the Bugs
Bunny
cartoons were too violent....AND FINALLY - Don't dress for the job
you've
got, dress for the job you want....Thats the Saturday Field. See you

I too agree that the white sox will have a better team with Ozzie in
charge, but why all the hostility about Frank? I guess 42 homers
wasn.t good enough. When Frank played consistently at first, he was
unstoppable and how many games did he win with those homers? Then
Jerry goes back to the platoon again and you saw his productivity
drop. Frank needs to be out there with his mind on the game, it's
been proven many times. So stay off Frank's back when Jerry's
knowledge of pitching was the teams downfall and not Frank!--- In

all of you are well...Belated Birthday wishes to my dear cousin Suzanne and my
Grandfather Charles who turned 90....The whole family came back for the
celebration and it was great to see everyone!!...... ~ Thoughts From The Front
Office....I have used today's quote many times before..But today it is aimed at
one person MICHAEL JACKSON....Many of us grew up listening to his music and
buying his records. He was the "King of Pop" no doubt at the time....His entire
family has entertained the world for decades......During the offseason from
baseball I was the public address announcer for the Christopher Newport
University Captains NCAA men's and woman's basketball team and for most of the

players..This was 1977-1988 - the height of his career....But than came
  the 90's and this man started to change...Plastic surgery...Monkeys.....Bones
from the elephant man....A very strange marriage to Elvis Presley's
daughter....And all the boys staying over at his Neverland ranch....Than in 1993
the first child came forward...But a Bronco....An ex football player and 25
million dollars made it go away......But parents kept leaving their children
with him....WHY??.....He admits that he sleeps with the children and he thinks
that's ok...I guess the parents did to...Maybe some children are for sale to
some parents...My question is why did not someone in that large family go to
Michael and get him some help??....Hello Janet you are the only normal
Jackson...Of course Michael is innocent until proven guilty..But does anyone
really think he a healthy 45 year old?? It appears he had a dad that may have
been abusive..But he is an adult and responsible for his own actions...If these
charges are true than he has ruined the lives of thes boys...They will live
  with this forever....It is a very sad episode for everyone
involved.....Jackson's new song "One more Chance" is perhaps a little
late...Michael ....You may have had your one more chance....And That's What I

Washington Redskins....Thanks for not calling and gloating!!..... ~ Since we
last talked I did the Chief Officer of Election thing for the Virginia
elections...We had 160 voters in our 15 hour day and a voting machine that did
not work for the first 10 minutes...3 people had to use paper ballots until we
got it up and running...They called the paper and said we were "turning voters
away"...I just kept thinking Florida 2000....YIKES!!.....But everything worked
out fine and we were done by 9 pm..... ~ Congrats to the Florida Marlins...They
will not repeat....~ And good news..The Virginia League - Our new independent
minor league baseball project - will open this summer with a 30 game schedule
  .....Details will be given in an exclusive to Billy and our buddies at the
Courier - Record this weekend and we will reprint it here next week..... ~ Hey

Let me be the first White Sox fan to say that I am elated the they
hired Ozzie Guillen today as their manager.  I think he the right
man for the team, media and fans.  Ozzie will get in Frank's face
(which Jerry Manuel was afraid to do), and he will demand that all
agendas be put to the side and that the team always come first.
So... Frank Thomas can say goodbye to batting wherever he wants in
the lineup and swinging for the fences whenever he likes.  If he
tries that with Ozzie, he will find himself on the bench like Manny
Ramirez did with the Red Sox.  Look for Maggs to bat third where he
belongs and Carlos Lee to bat 2nd or 4th depending on who's
pitching.  Also, expect Valentine and the Alomar brothers to
return.

Look for a team with much more intensity, that bunts and runs the
bases better and has a killer instinct.  And for God sakes...we can
finally say goodbye to the J.V. lineups that we have become
accustomed to on Sunday games and when we win the first two games of
a series.  No more Neal Cotts fiasco's.  Also, look for a team that
will knock a guy off the plate by coming high and tight (Like
Beckett did to Soso..I mean Sosa).  It does make a hugh difference
as will Ozzie..Go Sox and see you in the playoffs.

aircrash...The actor had died in real life several months earlier...... ~ In

scandal where 7 'Sox were charged with throwing games....Say it ain'y so
