MONEY magazine has come out with the best places in the USA to live and raise a
family...In the WEST it's Ranchco Sta Margarita,CA and Plano, TX...In the
CENTRAL region it's Naperville,IL and Woodbury, MN...And in the East it's Cary,
NC and Sugarland Run, VA....Now I am a native Virginian..And until today have
never heard of Sugarland Run, VA.....MORE New Year's wishes...FOR JOHN
LAIRD....A new woman in his life that appreciates his interesting sense of
humor..HEY BUBBA...And plenty of International freight...For DARREN
DAULTON...That new sports car...And to live far far away from any "Hooters"
restaurants - Sorrry Darren...Darren was married to the "Hooters" poster
girl...She divorced him just after his 8 million dollar contract in the
90's...He's doing great
now... ~ For DOREEN BOLT... The Peace of mind to know that all will work out -
job.......For REID GUSTASFEN ...Don't let the bad guys get you..Hang in....For
JULIO FRANCO....One more season as he approaches 50 and keeps going strong.... ~
For MICHAEL JACKSON...No more NEVERland.....Just NEVER AGAIN.... ~ For ANITA
WILBURN.....Keep being as fiesty and fun as ever!!!!!....For DEBBIE DIAL...Just
keep being your wonderful self....And stay away from MIKE ENSOR..You
flirt!!!..... ~ For GYLE CLEMENTS..Plenty of hungary,thirsty patrons.....For
GLEN STRONG ...A safe happy year for he and his family.... ~ For the New York
Times....Crediblity..... ~ For all my DHL/Airborne/Danzas friends that I have
not mentioned yet..A great merger and job security....For BILL COLLIER
..Continued great success with Concordians,Inc..... ~ For Ronald and Nancy
Reagan...Peace and some lasting final moments....And her continued courage and
strength......More to come...If I missed you so far hang on!!!.... ~ In
1987 I was both the GM and play by play announcer for the Peninsula White
Sox....On a trip to Durham we had one of our pitchers BRYCE HULSTRUM traded to
another team...He was not to dress for the final game in that series..And our
field manager didn't want to allow him to ride back to Hampton,Va with us....He
and I were both battling the Chisox brass over the issue...It was an insurance
thing...But I was not going to let him be stranded in Durham...Anyway Bryce
crawled through the little side window of our field level closet press box to
help me with color...He also was bringing "adult beveages" - Beer - in...Now I
was always a "Homer" broadcaster...A "Homer" is a radio announcer...play by play
announcer or press member that tilts heavily towards the home team...You can
turn on a game and know who the person broadcasting is working and pulling for
(Except VIN SCULLY.The Dodgers announcer's team, the Dodgers, won the World
Series once and in a low quite voice he said "The Dodgers
are Champions of the World...No emotion..No enthusiam...HMMM) ...I was not just
the radio guy..I was the PenSox GM....I was employed by them and I supported
them...Anyway as I was doing my best Harry Carey ...Our comments on the Chicago
White Sox were less and less positive....I was pretty angry at them at the way
they handled his trade....And the bus ...And he was upset, mad and
devastated....I think the Chisox owner's parentage was even questioned..Well we
were something like 3-18 at the time..Anyway Bryce actually did go back on the
bus..And actually was sent back to the White Sox because of an injury....Man I
hope there is no copy of that tape.....There is another tape from my Astros
years..But we will leave that for the book..MAYBE...From "Big League
Dreams"...... ~ From "The Hypochondriac's Handbook".....There are about 200
species of fleas in the United States..After every blood meal..female fleas lay
