Yes I certainly hope so! I think that MacPhail gave up on Brown way to quickly!

I liked Brown, but the fact of the matter was that he did not produce in the playing time the Cubs gave him. He is no super star or he would be playing for some other big league team. But maybe he will have a chance to mature playing in Japan for a year or two. I don't believe he was ever gonna get it done with the Cubs though. That's my opinion.

I Hope MacPhail isn't just evaluating players based on batting average.
BA only shows hits. Homers helps to achieve a more well rounded view of a player, but RBIs is really a team stat unless you believe in clutch performance. I do, but many do not.
in 204 At Bats Through 9/29, Rosie batted .211/.299/.314
which wields a pathetic OPS of .613.
He did have 23 walks in 204 at bats, which is not too terrible. That show some patience. There are many players who are much worse. That's a rate of one walk ever 8.8 at bats. That's not fabulous but it's better than many.
Sammy walks every 5.3 at bats. Of course, Barry Bonds has the sickest walk rate in the majors (of all time, I think).
Rosie's stats are unspectacular across the board. He has the potential for power, but hasn't shown much yet. He has the potential to hit better, but .613 OPS is awful.
I agree that some years, even one year, in Japan may season him. Maybe the Cubs plan to reacquire him if he shows more pop and/or patience.

I agree completely with Jim in Iowa. Roosevelt Brown is one of these guys who hits .358 in the minors and .158 in the majors. He had his chances last year and...

While it is possible Brown might be a decent part-time outfielder somewhere, the Cubs could not afford to keep waiting for that to happen. I think this move is...
Yeah I agree. Look what happened with Gary Matthews Jr. The Cubs let him go, although MacPhail had said he was hoping he would make it through waivers,...
