LUNAFEST raffle   Message List

Hi all:

This past triathlon season has been different for me, as a new member of Team LUNA Chix, which has given me additional purpose for an active lifestyle.  TLC is sponsored by the maker of women-designed LUNA natural nutritional bars and is owned by Clif Bar.  Their philosophy for sponsoring teams throughout the country is to promote women in fitness, sports and outdoors through the outlets of organized workouts, seminars and instructional sessions.  Our triathlon team has accomplished quite a deal, this year, including weekly bike rides and runs, clinics on transitions, nutrition, open-water swimming and bike maintenance, as well as host an urban adventure race and represent/promote LUNA via booths at local women's triathlon expos and by racing in their gear in all 2006 events we participate in.

The second component of sponsorship is the committment to raise awareness and money for the Breast Cancer Fund, a non-profit organization that identifies - and advocates for the elimination of - the environmental and other preventable causes of the disease.  Our main outlet for accomplishing this goal is to host a LUNAFEST, which is a national traveling festival of short films by, for, and about women.  The films are pulled from the top festivals across the nation and topics of this year's films range from quirky animation to touching documentaries.

Together, with the Chicago Running TLC group, we are hosting a LUNAFEST on Sunday, January 7, 2007 at Fitzgerald's, in Berwyn, from 3-5pm.  Admission is $15 and each raffle ticket purchased is $5.  The proceeds support BCF, so ticket costs are tax-deductible.  For our raffle, we are trying to encourage donation of goods or services that are supportive of LUNA's mission to encourage women in sports.  We have already secured several donated sessions by local triathlon coaches, trial memberships for health clubs and complimentary fitness classes.  If you are interested in donating any goods/services at any level to promote your own programs, as well as reach out to a potentially new audience, please let me know relatively soon, as we will produce the inventory of items to raffle when we begin the sale, in the next week or two.

Thanks for your consideration and hope to hear from you!
