1. Reindeer Romp 5k – Saturday 12/4 @ 10:00 am
Our next official Front Runners race will be the Reindeer Romp 5k.
Registration fees: $18 by 12/3 or $22 on race day. Register at the
Charlotte Running Co or on line at Run For Your Life or on line at
http://www.activezach.com/events/eventDetails.cfm?pEventId=1604
2. Saturday's regular run???
There will probably be some runners that skip the race and do the
normal 9:00 run from Liaisons this Saturday. Let me know if you are
planning on that. Anyone can contact me to see if there will be
runners. Just reply to this email.
3. 2nd Annual Front Runners Gift Exchange – Monday 12/6
We had so much fun last year we decided to do it again. The Front
Runners will have a Christmas Party Gift Exchange after the regular
Monday night run on 12/6. The Party will be at Fuel Pizza. The
gift exchange will be in the Chinese Gift Exchange (Dirty Santa)
format. You can attend the dinner without participating in the gift
exchange. The target price for the gift is $10-15. These should be
real gifts, not gag gifts. Keeping with the running theme would be
nice but feel free to get anything you want.
4. Alex and Todd's Posole Party – Monday 12/20
Alex and Todd have invited the Front Runners to their annual Posole
Party after our run on Monday 12/20. Here is the scoop"

5. Run For Peace Marathon issue
The following is from Melinda Yelton, a local runner:
Friends and Fellow runners,
As you all are aware, the Run for Peace board decided to cancel
their 2005marathon due to embezzlement of funds and the withdrawal
of sponsorship by the Charlotte Observer. I am saddened and angry
about this decision. As a 10+-year member of the Charlotte running
community, I believe that our city deserves and supports a marathon.
Therefore, I am running in the 2005 Charlotte Marathon on January
8th at 7:45 AM beginning in front of the Charlotte Observer building
at 600 S. Tryon Street and am inviting everyone to join me for
either all or part of
the 26.2 miles. I will follow the same course as the 2004 Run for
Peace marathon and will have cue sheets available at the start.
Because this is a 'grassroots' effort, there will be no formal aid
stations so you should
carry food and drink; stop at convenience stores along the course;
or have family/friends meet you on the course with supplies. Also,
there will be no police help with traffic - be prepared to run
mostly on sidewalks and remember that you are responsible for
obeying all traffic laws.
Bring friends and run the course as a team with your choice of
distances. Or run as far as you'd like and have someone pick you
up. But come out and help me demonstrate that the running community
of Charlotte is alive, strong and demands a marathon in the Queen
City. Please help me spread the word by passing this email along to
other running (and non-running) friends.
See you on the 8th for 26.2!!! Run safely, Melinda Yelton
