Memorial Weekend Hike!!

 

I'm planning an easy hike to the Johns River waterfalls near Blowing Rock in Globe, NC on the Saturday memorial day weekend (5/24). 

We will begin at Starlite Campground and Drive approximately 2 miles to the Trail Head end.  at 11AM.  Depending on what hikers show up, we can either do an easy 3 miles in-and-out hike, or we can do a longer 7 mile loop up to Edgemont road and back down to the car. 

This trail is dog friendly.  However bring a leash for the more public sections of the trail. 

Roger and I will be staying at Starlite Campground (its a gay owned, and gay/lesbian friendly campground 8 miles out of Blowing Rock NC.  for the Weekend.  They have activities going all weekend.  Margaretta party on Friday night (5/23), Pig Pickin on Saturday Evening, and of course the Pool, the lake for fishing or paddle boating,  and fabulous Johns River will be open to try your luck at trout fishing. they can accommodate RV's as well as primitive camping.

If you aren't the camping sort but want to participate in the Pool/Pig Pickin on Saturday after the hike.  I am sure Clay and Perry (the owners), or Pat (the onsite manager) could arrange a Day Pass for you.
