2. Cooper River Bridge Run
From: "Ray Cline" <ray.w.cline@...>
Hey Folks.
a few of us were talking at the run about the upcoming cooper bridge
run. They have opened the registration. It is for Saturday april 5th
08.
I'm doing the beachhouse thing again as well. If you think you are
planning to go to charleston go ahead and register, they will mail
you the registration stuff as the run gets closer.
This is WAY in advance.... I just got confirmation that we've secured
the same beach house at folly beach for the Weekend of the run. As
the weekend gets closer we can discuss pricing. It sleeps 8, 4 slots
are already spoken for.
I don't know what the price will be this time.. last year it was like
150/ night for the house.. so divided by 6-8 it was really cheap.

2008 Human Rights Campaign Carolinas Gala Announces Gala Theme
"WE"
CHARLOTTE – To celebrate a sense of community, diversity and
inclusion, and affirm the mission of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC),
the HRC Carolinas Gala committee has chosen "WE" as the theme for its
annual fundraising event.
The 2008 HRC Carolinas Gala Dinner will be held at the Charlotte
Convention Center on Saturday, February 16, 2008. Event planners are
projecting more than 1,500 in attendance in hopes of maintaining the
Carolinas dinner as the second largest dinner in the country, second
only to the National dinner in Washington, D.C. The Charlotte Westin
will be the host hotel for the fourth year.
The theme highlights the following objectives of the 2008 HRC
Carolinas Gala Committee, according to Robert Dogens, one of the
three 2008 dinner co-chairs:
We want to work with everyone to advance the rights of LGBT Americans
because these rights are CIVIL RIGHTS;
We all belong to the human race and as humans we share the same joys,
happiness, beliefs, values, disappointments, fears, and passions;
No longer is this about us and them...we want to build a bridge where
ALL Americans live in a country void of bias and prejudice, where
equality is the norm and not the exception;
"Our theme `WE' celebrates the unity and solidarity we feel not only
toward each other but also to our friends, families and allies,
because in the end WE are all alike," Dogens said.
Dogens is serving as dinner co-chair with Scott Bishop and Cherie
Green.
Founded in 1980, HRC is America's largest civil rights organization
working to achieve gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT)
equality. HRC effectively lobbies Congress, provides campaign support
to fair-minded candidates, and works to educate the public on a wide
array of topics affecting LGBT Americans, including relationship
recognition, workplace, family, and health issues. HRC currently has
more than 700,000 members, including more than 18,000 in the
Carolinas.
HRC hosts annual fundraising dinners throughout the country to
support its mission of building an America where LGBT people are
ensured of their basic equal rights, and can be open, honest and safe
at home, at work and in the community.
The HRC Carolinas Dinner is not an `invitation only' event; it is
open to everyone who buys a ticket. The Gala ticket price, which is
$190 through Jan. 31, 2008, and $225 after February 1, 2008, includes
a one-year membership in HRC and a subscription to the quarterly HRC
magazine. Tickets to the event can be purchased online by visiting
the event website www.hrccarolinas.org and following links to Box
Office Tickets.
