1. Front Runner Socks
Jay Norvell has some friends that own DeFeet. They make running and
biking socks. He is looking into pricing for getting socks made with
the Charlotte Front Runners logo for us and found out that the
minimum order is 144 pairs. Before he goes down the road further, he
wanted to get an idea of how many folks would want Front Runner
socks. (Not sure of price yet, but they will give us a deal, so they
should be reasonable)
Let me know how many pairs you might want if we order. (This is not
a commitment; it's just giving him an idea if we can come close to
the 144)
2. Race For the Cure – run or volunteer this Saturday
Hey everyone! If you are not running or walking in the Race for the
Cure on Oct 2nd, would you consider volunteering? They need about 8
volunteers each to help with the start for the Race for the Cure 5k
& the 1-mile fun walk. RFTC is expecting apprx. 12,000 participants
and it will be no easy task to move that many people through the
starting area with the fastest finishers coming back in within about
15 minutes! We need your help if possible! Thank you so much for
helping support this important cause!
Contact Aprille Shaffer at 704-549-9711 or
aprille.shaffer.c568@... for more info or to volunteer.

4. Mountain Weekend survey
We are trying to reschedule our trip to Ginger Cake Mountain. The
plan would be to do the normal Saturday morning run and then head to
the mountains. Phil and Jay have offered up the use of their cabin
for Saturday night. We have 2 possible weekends. Please let me
know if you want to go and which of the 2 possible weekend (or both)
you can make it: 10/9 or 10/16.
5. SOCIAL #1 – Take Me Out at Actors Theatre on Saturday 10/2
Take Me Out is playing at the Actors Theatre. A group of us are
going to the 8:00 pm show. Tickets are $22. The tickets are
general admission so you can buy your ticket individually and still
sit with the group. Just let me know if you are going so we can
save the right number of seats. We will probably plan dinner
beforehand. Go to
http://www.actorstheatrecharlotte.org/take_out.html for more info on
the show.
On September 15 Actor's Theatre will be one of the first theaters in
the Southeast to produce this Tony Award Winning Best Play of 2003.
Also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Drama for 2003, Richard
Greenburg's Take Me Out is a brilliant ode to baseball and the story
of an enormously popular player, who at the height of his game,
sends a tremor through America's pastime when he announces at a
press conference that he is gay. Both funny and hard-hitting, Take
Me Out explores the ripple effect this has on his teammates, the
media, and his adoring fans.
Note: Take Me Out includes partial male nudity and adult content
