Upcoming Events: the Rescheduled Pelicanman
Pelicanman has been rescheduled for next weekend on Sunday, September
28th at about 8:15 am. The staging area is located 2.5 miles east of
the junction of Judge Perez and the Judge Perez extension. Wondering
how we got to this point? There begins the Pelicanman Odyssey. CTC
was asked to move Pelicanman from September 13th to September 29th
because of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike. The course was undamaged by
both storms as was the newly repaired and functional Bayou Road. It
is because of this newly upgraded Bayou Road that we were able to
move Pelicanman further down the extension road, and , therefore,
eliminating the Violet bridge double-whammy. No hills for this race,
folks! This is the very same course we used in our first Pelicanman
following Katrina.

CTC Annual Race (10 miler)
Potentially, this year¢s annual race could be one of our biggest and
most advantageous races we¢ve ever had. We are working on a unique
and historical course, permit pending.
This race is still scheduled for November. More details to follow
later.
If we are able to move forward with this race, we will need many
volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering for this race,
please contact one or both of the following people.
We may need some additional help with set-up at the staging area on
Saturday around 4pm. Call one of the numbers below if you are
interested in helping.

In July, CTC hosted the Bastille Wilderness Run at Val Reiss park.
The grass had not been cut in some time because of impending
construction. Two months and two hurricanes later, work is slowly
progressing at the site. We are happy to report that no one was lost
before, during, or after the race. This figure includes both children
and adults. The post race party eventually moved to Kenny Lotz¢s
house where beer, hot dogs, chilli, and tall tales flowed.
CTC restarted the Crawfish Party tradition again this past summer.
All who attended
had a good time. There were numerous eating activities and outdoor
activities sprinkled with liquid refreshments. Our apologies to
Gerald Robertson who received his snail-mail invitation on the day of
the party (more specifically, right around the time it began).
John Rincon now has email! He made the crawfish party. Okay, Gerald,
if John Rincon can get an email address, we know you can too!!!
Many of our members now live outside of St. Bernard Parish. We would
like to let you know that the parish weathered the close call storms
of Gustav and Ike. We knew we were okay when 1) our CTC trailer did
NOT float away and 2) this time some St. Bernard residents actually
took in some evacuees from St. Tammany Parish.
In other news, Shady Schadwell was spotted dancing in the Spillway
bar following the Great Spillway classic. Members Phil Gioia and Don
Brinkman celebrated participation in ALL past Spillway races, and
while we are not quite sure what Shady was celebrating, we have
reasoned that he was having a good time. Check out Shady¢s moves at
the following link (Caution: this link may not be suitable , like
Shady, for children :)
