CHALMETTE TRACK CLUB NEWSLETTER
MARCH/APRIL 2008

Though it has been a while since the last newsletter came out, slowly
CTC has been rebuilding.
It is likely that CTC will soon be involved in a Bike Tour in St.
Bernard Parish in conjunction with the St. Bernard Recreation
Corporation this spring. The Tour is still in the planning stage and
will require volunteers not to mention participants.

Upcoming Events:
Pelicanman is scheduled for Sunday, April 6th. This year the race
will feature the absence of Daylight Saving. The result of this
should be that participants and race workers should be on time (well,
nearly on time). If you are interested in volunteering for the race,
please contact Phil Gioia at 504-912-2675
Back by popular demand is the O.L.P.S. Tomato Festival 5k. It is on
Sunday, April 20th. This is the oldest race in St. Bernard Parish.
Please come out and support this race and encourage a future
generation of runners, but be sure to beat as many of the youngsters
as you can while you can!
CTC officers are looking into the possibility of having a picnic in
late spring to serve as an annual gathering without a run–remember
the good old crayfish boil days????
Eve Kazik would like to let members know about the upcoming LSU Tiger
Run. This race offers many great prizes. Eve once received a $50 gift
certificate to a store in Baton Rouge.

Recently Spotted: Long time member Mike Lopinto was recently spotted.
Mike relocated to the Northshore and is trying to get back to
running.
Gabe and Jan Abene were recently in town for the Mardi Gras marathon.
They have relocated to Plano, Texas but miss CTC and St. Bernard very
much. Any Lance Armstrong sightings yet, Gabe?
Phil Gioia recently completed his 24th consecutive Mardi Gras
Marathon. He has now tied the record held by the legendary Larry
Fussiler.

Help Needed: Hector Perez is looking for someone to purchase and
bring a keg of beer as well as the CTC flag to this year's Cresent
City Classic. Hector will only be to happy to reimburse that someone
for the cost of the beer. Hector will in Disney World.
