Re: Re: Agent confirms Daniels will join Celtics

John, sign and trade means approximately swapping the same money, so it may open a roster spot but it won't free up money. We're still way over the cap, so it would take A LOT of salary being sent elsewhere without getting anything back to free up money to sign anyone.  Not going to happen. That means the only way to sign FA is via exceptions. And with this signing all we have left is veteran minimum exceptions, which Marbury won't sign for.

I'm better than Moore at the 4 & 5 and I'm not quite 6 feet tall, decidedly hobbled, and gender blocked from playing in the league. Still doesn't mean I'd sign Wallace. Not much left and I don't think what he has would integrate well here.

If we do a sign & trade for Scal or Tony who could we still sign? Would this give us more money for Marbury?
Could we take Tinsley off their hands? Someone mentioned Maceo Baston

We need a vet point & a big man. Ben Wallace? Better than Moore at the 4 & 5 spots

John

Agent confirms Daniels will join Celtics

ESPN.com  news services

_Indiana Pacers_ (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=ind
free-agent guard _Marquis  Daniels_
(http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2200)  has committed to signing with the _Boston Celtics_
(http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=bos)  for  next season, multiple news
outlets are reporting.
The Boston Herald and the Boston Globe report that Daniels, who averaged a
career-high 13.6 points and 4.6 rebounds last season, will either sign for
the  $1.9 million biannual exception or be delivered in a sign-and-trade
deal with  Indiana.
Agent Glenn Schwartzman confirmed the move to the Celtics on Saturday
saying  both teams would prefer that the sign-and-trade works out, but the
Celtics will  use the biannual exception to sign Daniels if trade talks fizzle.
Schwartzman  wouldn't say which other players would be involved in a deal.
The Pacers declined to exercise their option on the 28-year-old in June,
which would have been worth $7.3 million next year, according to the papers.
Daniels, who began his career in Dallas, has spent the last three seasons
with the Pacers.
