Adventure Racing in Costa Rica
Oct 23, 2007 – San Jose
The 6th Edition of the 24 Hours of Costa Rica Adventure Race is set
to start on Dec 1, 2007, 1 month away. This year the race will be
held in the shadow of the active Arenal Volcano, some 3 ½ hours from
San Jose. The Race starts a 10 am on the soccer field in the center
of the town of La Fortuna.
Teams of 2, 3 and 4 will compete on one of 2 different routes. The
pro route is a grueling 150 km in length which teams are expected to
take at least 24 hours to complete, while the Sport route is much
shorter in distance and should take teams 14 to 24 hours.
Disciplines during the Race include mountain biking, trekking, sea
kayaking, canopy traversing and some tricky navigation.
A group of just over 20 teams is set to compete in this year's
race. The field of racers include team members from all corners of
the world. Countries represented include the US, Canada, Australia,
UK, Poland, Greece and Costa Rica.
We still have room for more teams so if you and your team are
interested in an escape to the tropics let us know – we would love
to have you join the fun
