USARA National Champions to Battle It Out at The Berryman Adventure
Van Buren, Missouri - The 2006 GoLite USARA Adventure Racing National
Champions, Team Eastern Mountain Sports, and the 2005 National Champions,
MOAT, will be in attendance at the 2007 Berryman Adventure - Presented by
Columbia Sportswear.
The Berryman Adventure, located in the rugged Ozark Mountains of Southern
Missouri, is known as the premier adventure race in the Midwest. Offering
two separate courses, a 36-Hour course and a 12-Hour course, the seventh
running of the Berryman Adventure will test the endurance and determination
of even the most accomplished adventure athletes.
Racers can expect to paddle nationally protected spring-fed rivers, mountain
bike on the beautiful Ozark Trail and cover ground on foot that is steep,
rugged and will result in some fantastic bluff-top views. The Berryman
Adventure is completely unsupported, and all racers should come prepared for
tough navigation and a very demanding course.
Race Headquarters is located at the National Park Service's Big Spring Park,
near Van Buren, Missouri. The Ozarks are world famous as an area of
exceptional caves and springs. Over 300 of each are known in the park.
Several springs, such as Big Spring, Alley Spring, and Blue Spring are among
America's largest.
The Berryman Adventure is a Regional Qualifier for the 2007 GoLite USARA
Adventure Racing National Championships, to be held near Potosi, Missouri on
November 2-3. The Berryman Adventure is also a part of the exciting
Checkpoint Tracker National Point Series, and will be utilizing Checkpoint
Tracker, an online leaderboard application in which friends, families and
fans can watch their favorite teams at home on their computer.
