In response to the many requests to follow the race results and
standings of the Four Winds Supreme Adventure Race presented by The
North Face® that started in Park City Thursday morning, you can
check out the North Face website
http://www.thenorthface.com/index_flash.html for photos, team
standings and footage of the power parachuting and more! The site
will be updated twice a day over the next 6 days.
During the first day, disciplines included among others, ropes,
building their own raft to get gear across, and in line skating.
Through the night and early morning, Teams completed a mountain
biking leg, an urban challenge and a 15 mile trek before taking on
for the power parachuting leg, followed by kayaking.
Teams for the full expedition race and the Outdoor Industry
Challenge shortenend version are going hand in hand right now.
Currently, Team Go-Lite and Team Outside Magazine (epiephrine) are
tied for first with The North Face UK team (doing the full race)
close behind.
Based out of Park City and covering approximately 400 miles, this
longest-running, multi-sport expedition-level race in North America
will challenge mixed- and same-gender teams of four and two to call
on their physical and mental endurance abilities to mountain bike,
trek, kayak, swim, horseback ride, power parachute, navigate,
boulder bound, rappel and ascend across a secret course through the
Uinta and Ashley National Forests and Jordanelle and Wasatch State
Parks.
Additionally, The North Face® sent out a `race within a race'
challenge to the outdoor retail industry to create their own squads
and "attempt to beat The North Face® adventure racing team." The
teams will race the same course as the other competitors of the USA
Adventure Race — all coinciding with the Outdoor Retailer Summer
Market.
