Here are the teams going to each event on the 11th. PLEASE let me
know if I made any mistakes.  We still have plenty of time to

We'll have five teams on two courts.  If every team shows up, each
team will have four two game matches.  Each game will start at 5-5
and end at 25.  Each site will START PLAY at 8.  The top TWO teams
in each pool will advance to the finals.  If there are no ties, pool
play SHOULD end around 4:30.  So, if the playoffs start by 6:00 the
two semi final matches will be 2 out of 3 with the first two games
starting at 5-5 and the deciding game (if needed) will start at 0-0
to 15 with a side change at 8.  If the playoffs start after 6:00,
each semi final match will be 0-0 to 25 with a side change at 13.
The finals, regardless of time, will start at 0-0 and be 2 out of 3.

To confirm attendance, ASU will be contacting the West teams by
phone, and UNCW will contact the East on November 9th.  PLEASE
contact me immediately if you have any problems or questions.

The libero can replace ANY back row player.  However, the libero may
only serve in the same rotation spot.  For example, let's say #11, a
middle, starts the match in position two.  When she rotates to
position one to serve, the libero can replace #11 and serve.  On the
scoresheet you would draw a circle around the Roman Numeral II
indicating that the libero served in that position.  For the
remainder of that GAME, the libero can only serve in that position.
She can REPLACE other players in other positions, but she can only
serve in that position.  You do NOT need to designate which position
she will serve in prior to the game.

One step further...In the above scenario with #11 in position two
(front right) the libero would normally be in the game opposite #11
in position five (left back) playing for the other middle.  When #11
rotates to serve, all she has to do is leave the court (BETWEEN the
attack line and end line) and the libero STAYS on the court and goes
back to serve.  The libero does NOT have to leave the court in that
case.

I'm going to Wachovia (again) today.  I believe I have all of the

ENTERED TEAMS:

We have a waiting list since we have more than 16 teams that want to
enter the league.  So, I need to hear from EVERYONE that is planning
on attending the first league tournament on November 11th at ASU and
UNCW.  It SHOULD be everyone, but I'm having problems getting
responses from 1-2 schools.  This info is very important because we
must have 8 teams at both sites to run a smooth and successful
event. I'd like to make the site brackets as soon as possible, so at
some point I will be forced to move forward if I haven't heard from
everyone.

Good Morning,

To make a long story short, I've been having a very difficult time
setting up the new CWCVL bank account for two reasons.

1.  I'm not the brightest guy in the world!

2.  There is a pre-existing CWCVL account with an active Tax ID
number, and we're trying to track down the people that actually have
access to it.  While this won't affect any of you, I just wanted to
let you know why the checks are sitting in limbo.

NOVEMBER 11th:  The West Region will be playing at ASU and the East
Region will be playing at UNCW.  I will post the brackets by
November 1st, but please contact me if you have any specific
questions.  The delay is due to the fact that I still have three
schools that haven't BEEN ABLE to pay yet but still plan to do so.

MARCH 31st:  This tournament is already locked on for UNC Chapel
Hill.

FEBRUARY 10th:  The plan is to have UNCG, ELON, NCSU, or DUKE host.
We'll need two sites with two courts at each site.  If you already
asked me to host, please remind me, and I'll take care of it.

I'd love to see more participation at our sister events throughout
the year.  Please post any tentative Spring dates you might have so
we don't create anymore scheduling conflicts.  In addition, I'd like
to put together a three year plan starting next year to schedule one
league event per year in Virginia if possible.

INDIVIDUAL TOURNAMENTS:  When you host your own event, please send
me a list of the participating teams and the top four finishers so I
can send the information on to the national level.

Friday the 29th of September is the deadline for club dues. The list

SHIRTS:  At this point, only three schools have ordered

Hey everyone,

    I am very excited to say that we currently have 10 teams competing
in our tournament.  They are Georgia Southern, Clemson, WFU, ECU,
UNC-CH(2), Longwood, and ASU(3).  I would really like to get 2 more
teams so we could have 3 pools of 4.  It should be a really good
tournament.  I know some of you have fall break during that October
7th weekend but to any of you who don't please consider
participating.  I need to know by this coming Friday, September 29 so
I can get everything set up. Again it's $125 for the 1st team and $100

email, our league tournament will be Nov 11. NOT Nov 4th.

Good Morning,

As you know, there are several tournments popping up for the fall.
And even though we don't have any "duplicate" days, it will be hard
for team to attend some of the events and still focus on the League
tournament on November 4th.

Based on this, and the increased size of our league, I'd like to
request your proposed hosting dates for the spring.  I think it
would be much easier and attract more teams if we could have at
least a two-week break between events.  We could even try for
an "east" and "west" event on the same day to make traveling
easier.  So, please send me your proposed dates, but keep in mind
our two league tournaments will be on February 10th and March 31st.

OFFICIATING:  There is no requirement to have officials at your own
events.  However, if you'd like some, please let me know.  The cost
per official per day would be around $150, and you would need one
per court.

COURTS:  Four teams per court is the BEST way to do it, but five
would work also.  It's ALWAYS better to have an even number of teams
on each court, but there are options.  Just let me know if you have
any questions.

RULES:  The libero will be allowed to serve this year.  She is only
allowed to serve in the same position of the rotation.  Again, let
me know if you have any questions.

SCOREKEEPING:  The EASY to use scorekeeping class in listed in the
files section of the GROUP website.  The days go such much better
when everyone knows how to keep score.

HOSTING:  To ensure a smooth event, it's very important to have a
phone number for each participating team.  Please call each team the
day before the event.  That will give you plenty of time to adjust
the schedule.  And to help, PLEASE go to the database section and
list your cell number.

I have found a vendor that is really inexpensive, so I was wondering
if you'd be intersted in ordering T-shirts and/or crew neck
sweatshirts.  If we can order 100, the price per T will be no more
than $9 and the price per sweats would be no more than $16.  Each
shirt will have a large CWCVL logo centered on the front and a listing
of each school listed in the back.  I can PROBABLY get each school a
specific color, and I will have them in time for the November 11th
tournaments.  Plus, it would be great for the teams that go to NIRSA.

Plus survey your team members and give me a count.  I don't want to
order anything until I know your team members will buy them.

Hello,

I know you're ALL very busy now.  But, I just wanted to give you an
update from my end.  Between officiating, HS coaching and my "grown
up" job, I'm a little overwhelmed until next Thursday.  After that,

      My name is Ashley Dawkins, and I am the new president for the VA Tech
Women's Club Volleyball Team! I know that everyone's season is just getting
underway, but I just wanted to invite whoever is willing to come to our fall
semester home tournament. It will take place October 28! Please email me

We will be hosting a tournament on Saturday, October 7, 2006.  We
are very excited about this tournament because it will be our first
tournament in our new recreation facility.  We will have 3 courts in
a new auxillary gym that will be open specifically for this
tournament.  The tournament fees are $125 for the first team and
$100 for the second if you choose to bring 2 teams.  In order to
save a spot please send a deposit in the amount of $50 for each team

Many of you have asked me about this.  There is a JO tourney nearly
every Saturday from January through April.  To host, you need to
have at least two courts from 8am until the event is over which can
go to 10pm at times.  With a full event, you'll run 5 teams per
court and make about $65 per team.  That will earn you about $650
for two courts, $975 for three, etc.  The only cost you'll have is
for balls if you need them and any rental fee your gym might charge
you.

To host, you'll need a USAV member ($35 a year) to serve as the
tournament director.  All of the registration and booking of
officials is done by Carolina Region Volleyball.  Depending on the
location and date, I'd be happy to run your event for a fee based on
the number of teams participating.

I can answer your questions.
