Summer volleyball anyone?   Message List

hey ladies,

I really enjoyed working the couple of tourneys I did this year and
hope to be able to work more in the future, that's a fun league
you've got there.

I'm Vaughn Hastings, my website is vh1vball.com and I wanted to throw
out a couple of volleyball options for the summer to anyone who may
be in or around the Raleigh area. I run doubles tourneys here in the
area and we offer several formats to choose from.

on April 21st we're having our first tourney of the year, it's a King
& Queen format on the grass. King & Queen tourneys are basically
every person for themselves. It's a co-ed tourney where you rotate
partners during the pool play and keep your own point total, with the
top players advancing. This format is a great way to meet new people
and it's a little more laid back than regular doubles tourneys. One
big plus it that you can sign up by yourself or with a partner, and
we always have more guys than we have girls to pair them up with. If
you sign up by yourself, you'll know at least 7 new people by the end
of a tourney.

April 22nd will be our first Reverse co-ed of the year, also on the
grass. You will need an opposite sex partner for this one and there's
not rotating partners during pool play. (even if you would like to!)
This format is played on a women's height net and we draw a 10' line
that the guys have to hit from behind, just like back row attacks
indoors. Also, girls are the only ones that can block. This format
got really popular last year and will probably continue to grow this
season.

We're also running sand tourneys which will be traditional format.
We'll have same sex doubles on one day of the week-end and co-ed the
other.

I also have an email list similar to this CWCVL one, that people from
all over the state (actually in Virgina and South Carolina as well)
use for volleyball related info. Tourneys, free play, leagues, you
name it, it's on there. You can join the email list through the
website, but be sure to join the kqvolleyball list, the juniors list
won't do you much good.

Last but certainly not least, we try to offer pre and post tourney
entertainment options. After all, the fun shouldn't end when you step
off the court, right?

If you have any questions, feel free to send me a note and I hope to
see you all again soon!

Vaughn

PS. I guess I was the new ref on the block this season in case my
name doesn't sound familiar. I was the really, really, really funny
guy with all the skills and killer dance moves.
