I have very substantial heart burn with a $75 entry fee. My first
though was $60, which is a little more than 2x our normal fee of $25-
$30. It's also important to keep in mind we're effectively taking
in 600 single day entries, but only paying 300 worth of sanction and
insurance. An effective saving of $4.50/driver/day ($2500+).
I went out and researched divisional pricing around the country.
Mi Div series <$60
SW Div series = $60
SE Div series = $60
GASS <$50 (CenDiv+GLDiv)
NEDiv = $60
SOWDiv = $50
RMDiv = $60
Lots outside Cali are cheaper, but they're also not expecting the
number of people we do so the fee is spread out over less people
there.
Crunching numbers. The results of Guy's prelim budget imply $26 of
every entry goes towards the series prize purse. Resulting in an
AVERAGE series podium prize of $200+ (Note top prizes will be
higher) If I simply replace $75 with $60 entries across the board,
I get $11 of every entry going towards the series prize purse.
Resulting in an average series podium prize of $85+.
Now, in my opinion, Guy's expense budget is overstated (list more
expenses than there is) and the income budget has no contribution
from a Test & Tune or sponsors. There is also what I consider too
many series podium finisher's assumed (115). So I'm convinced the
prize numbers have nowhere to go but up as the budget gets refined.
I'm also having trouble getting reasonable numbers with a $75 fee
when you have odd cases. A non-SCCA member should be +$15, making
the fee $90 for non-SCCAs. We've also adopted the idea that a
person could run a single day if they couldn't make the whole
weekend. This would put a single day entry at $40.
Guy, Chris and Mark have taken quick adoption to a $75 entry fee. I
just don't know if that's going to be in our best interest.
I'd like to hear some thoughts.
