I'm posting an E-mail chain here. This is pretty much everything
done on the Cali series so far. Since it's an e-mail chain, it
makes more sense to read from the bottom up. It's just FYI, but
comment if you have something to say.

-------------------
I was including trophy bucks when I was talking about local trophies.

The CSCC Divisional is going to count towards the local points
series. And although I've been given full reign over the event,
there's definitely some things I want to keep that are common to a
local event. Trophies for the event will be one of them. I'm
willing to bet more than half of the people who attend the CSCC Div
will be locals only and not travel to the other divisions. So I
definitely don't want to put all the emphasis on the series.

As for social budgets: We're already getting a lot of savings from
having a 2day big event. For one, about $2500 in sanction saved.

We're going to have to figure out how to lower that entry fee.
Right now you show $200+ per podium finish (note first places will
average higher), which is almost $26 contribution per entry (this is
pretty high in my opinion). If we don't change anything in the
budget and simply move the fee to $60, I get $85 per podium finish,
or $11 contribution per entry, with nowhere to go but up as the
budget gets refined.

Bottom line, if you lose the locals, you lose the event.

Mark's right about qualcom; they won't charge Friday if we don't
drive. But if we do, it's half normal price which is $750, unless
they've worked out a special deal.

I just noticed there's no revenue shown for Friday's test & tune.
Even though it might be a light turn out, it's significant (50 x 15
= $750). And if you're confident of sponsors, there's no revenue
spot for that income.

Jayson-If you checked local event tally's-most choose "Solo Bucks"
instead of Trophies. Mark told me that, Qualcom wouldn't be charging
for Friday----unless we were running cars. Wouldn't we have a
practice course on Friday? The Idea of Trophies or not could be
an "X" on the entry form. I think it should be at the end of the
series-instead of each event. If we give awards out every event, not
many will care about going to another event. The Sponsors will want
high turnouts, and a big finish-or it won't be worth it to them. If
the "payouts" are $50.00----Not too many will care. As far as entry
fee's, the $75.00 seems totally in line. You don't get a "welcome
party and lunch" at a local event. Those are needed to help
people "mingle". This is why people travel to events out of their
region.----Guy

Our region does trophies for every event. We budget about $10per.
San Diego does something similar.

I think it'd be proper to have trophies/event. In fact, I think
we'll (CSCC) be insisting. A budget of $20/trophy would be
appropriate.

I've got some other updates for the finances, just haven't gotten
to them. But some important ones: San Diego pays half price for
weekdays, so total lot fee down there should be $3750. Also,
although I've paid $2500/day at El Toro, Brian keeps saying $2250.

And I'm hoping to get a Friday discount.

Overall, I think the entry fee needs to come down. high price
might be good for a National Tour, but I think we're going to loose
a lot of local guys if the fee is much more than 2x regular entry
($25 to 30 here). I know this will really effect the bottom line of
prizes, but it's something I think really needs to be worked out.

OK gang-we're the main players at this point, to try and get our
regions to work together for a great Divisional series. If we fail,
there won't be anyone else to get a series going. That being said,
here's a list of expenses-everyone should look at and comment on.
Everything should be "out on the table". This includes a
500.00 "profit" for each event, so your region doesn't go totally
broke.
