Everyone,
Here are a few important things to know about the upcoming conference championship race hosted by UCSB:
1. There is collegiate and non-collegiate racing. The flyer for the collegiate website is available on the WCCC Results page. The flyer for the non-collegiate races is available at RideSB.com. Be aware that there are non-collegiate categories only for XC and downhill, not Dual Slalom and Short Track. DS and STXC are collegiate only.
2. The speed limit in the ranch is 15 MPH. It is an active cattle ranch and there are cows everywhere. Please respect the speed limit.
3. People are welcome to shuttle the downhill course on Saturday and Sunday. You are responsible for organizing your own shuttle in your own car. We will have details about the shuttle route at the race.
4. As Hanns said in an earlier email, we will not be accepting team pay for this race. We will only accept cash or check for any transactions at the ranch (race entry fees, one day license sales, ranch entry fees.) The nearest ATM is 15 minutes to the south in Buellton.
5. There is a $10 per vehicle fee (cash or check only) for collegiate riders to enter the ranch.
6. We'll probably be having a barbecue on Saturday, and it will probably be free. Details to follow.
7. Finally, I'd like to emphasize our fire policy: no fires. Portable grills are fine, but fire pits, barrel fires, or open flames of any kind are prohibited.
Feel free to email me with any questions, and I'll see you this weekend.
Hello all, In my recent interest of the compiled beliefs of the book Traveller's Quest and a desire to see the grandeur of the Central California coast, I am planning a bike ride out of San Luis Obispo to San Francisco (Mill Valley) on the Highway 1 route. I will be leaving promptly after the semester ends, December 19th or so, and hopefully arriving up there by the 22nd or 23rd. Any further questions or interest to join me on this ride feel free to contact. It will be a enjoyable self-contained expedition on this heritage route. -Trevor "Supertramp" Bloom [skizzlerforlife@...]

Just trying to get myself and my bike to the race this weekend, if you've got room for either PLEASE shoot me an email ASAP! And if you need a tent to sleep in I've got one of those too.
-Brice
P.S. Hopefully all of you have seen my face photocopied in various places around campus. As part of this super-secret-mission I'm asking people, "why do you think Brice's face is everywhere?". Reply to this email with any logical/ridiculous hypotheses you might have!
Hi all,
Last night, between 7 pm and 10 am this morning, my Black Santa Cruz Blur LT was
stolen. If any of you see it around, please tell me.

It has a gravity dropper seatpost, XT drivetrain, dt 5.1D laced to 340s hubs,
fox shock, fox vanilla fork.
any help is amazing
I was wondering if anybody had Hayes Stroker Ryde hydraulic discs to get me a spare part.
-Brake Lever Pivot Pin
I had one ordered, but the supplier shipped the wrong part. It is now being rush-ordered and may/may not be in time for the race this weekend in Santa Barbara. Anybody have anything? Let me know.
I've gotten a good amount of notecards so far but i just wanted to remind those that may have forgot. The deadline for the notecards is tomorrow (friday 11/13) at 6pm that is when foothill cyclery is closed and I am leaving right after to head down south for the meeting. You can bring the cards to my mailbox all day today and tomorrow you can come into the shop and hand them to me since I am working there all day tomorrow.
-There will be NO exceptions, if you do not have the card to me by 6pm tomorrow you will not be joining the team at the winter training camp.
Okay, so the paperwork did go through, as far as I understand. I am pleased to announce that bike fix will be on Dexter Lawn from 11-2. Come help set up and work on some bikes. Sorry for the multiple emails...
So, this week the Bike fix is going to be on Mott lawn, like usual, but hopefully next week we'll be moving to Dexter lawn. The paperwork is currently in the works, and being processed. Thanks for your patience.
I just got a new mountain bike today; anyone wanna go for a ride? I literally
don't know any trails around here yet. I'm down for anything within riding
distance of campus.

Hey,
Can 2 or 3 of you volunteer some time on Saturday morning (Nov 14th) to be ride
leaders for the Seeds of Hope ride? There are three routes (35, 13, 8 miles)
that need to be ridden. It will be an easy job, we just need a rider at the
front of the pack and then someone to follow on the back to make sure no one
gets hurt...The 35 mile ride leaves at 8:30, my roommate and I can ride that if
it is too early for ya'll. However, the 13 and 8 mile rides leave at 10:30, so
can a couple of you step up for some easy and fun volunteer hours? Please let me
know soon!
Riding Bear
Also, I have a new 58cm SL2 (still in the bubble wrap) for sale also with BB30 bottom bracket. for $1900, I will include a used Specialized BB30 crankset with new bearings and SRAM sprinter chainrings.

Since we don't have school wednesday i'll be leading a Thai Food ride, the route will be Turri and we will stop in Osos at Nois Thai food (super bomb).
-Meet a Foothill Cyclery 11am
-Bring water, helmet, flat repair and MONEY for Thai food
i am unable to leave for the race on friday, so i am looking for a ride for me and my bike to SB on Saturday morning to get there in time for the XC race. anyone going please let me know, i can chip in for gas.
i am hoping someone might be available on thursday morning at 11am to do a casual ride up shooters then downhill on morning glory. I have only a few hours to do it, but it will be an easy pace for anyone who wants to go, including those of you who have never been on the awesome trails we have in our very own backyard. everyone welcome.
Leaving Foothill at 3:15 tomorrow. Bring commute lights for the way back. Normal Route: Around Madonna, Rock Garden, Laguna to delicious COSTCO food court yummies.
Since there is no general meeting this week, here is an email giving you all the details about this weekend's race.
IT IS THE LAST COLLEGIATE MTB RACE OF THE SEASON, CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS!!
The race is about 45-60 mins south of SLO near where hwy 101 and hwy 154 meet. Look at the flyer for exact directions.
There are two races on Saturday (XC and DS) and two races on Sunday (STXC and DH).
There is camping available at the venue for $10 per vehicle.
Reg Fees will be comped by the team, however team pay will not be accepted at the race. Riders must pay for there own races and then get reimbursed after the weekend sometime. Probably at the next meeting. The races cost $15 for your first race of the day and $5 for your second race of the day. So people racing all four events will need a total of $40 dollars in registration money.
All this info about the race and more can be found at the race flyer located at www.wccc-info.com
Since there is no general meeting this week, there will be no "carpool list" to sign up on. However, since it is so close and the last mtb race of the season, there should be no lack of rides out there. Try to find a ride with friends, but if everything seems to be full, let me know and I'll find someone for you to get a ride down there with. Also, I'll be driving and can take quite a few bikes if anyone needs to get one down there.
Since this is conference, the points awarded this weekend will be worth double. This is why it is so important to get as many people out there racing so we can win conference and keep the conference trophy here in SLO for the second year in the row! Plus, I can just about garuntee you will have a ton of fun.
Hey everyone, I'm riding tower at 3:45 today so if you're interested, meet me at
the trailhead on Lizzie St. Be prepared for a fairly brisk hike up (<50min)
because otherwise we will be racing the sun back down!
Again, trailhead at 3:45.

I believe it actually 15 dollars for the first and 5 for the second, so you need 20 bucks a day to race.

conference update [1 Attachment]
this is important!
UCSB will NOT be accepting any team pay the race this weekend. if you are planning on racing, you NEED to bring cash to cover each race. it is $10 for for the first race and $5 for the second race EACH day ($15 per day if you're racing both races), in addition to one day license fees if necessary.
don't let this discourage you from coming out though! we will still cover your registration fees as we promised. however, we will simply have to refund your fees in cash at a later date.
my apologies for the late notice, but this is the way it goes. see everyone out there this weekend!
also, attached is a good start for a check list of things to bring for this weekend.
Patrick stop whining!

Subject: Memo regarding 2010 Collegiate Cycling rule changes
Dear Conference Directors, team leaders and conference
members,
Wow. The Collegiate Board of Trustees is amazed with the
incredible amount of feedback we have received regarding the 2010 rule change
summary, in particular on the issue of aero equipment. The Board strives for
active involvement and engagement by our members, and we have received over
sixty pages of information both for and against the requirement for
mass-start-legal equipment. The Board of Trustees seriously considers all of
the material we receive with regards to the sport of Collegiate Cycling and
this time is no different.
With regards to the rule change legislation for 2010,
please see the updated Rule Change Summary at http://bit.ly/2X2XsL [1]. Due to
the timing of the rule publications, the nature of the rule in question, and
our desire to give teams adequate time to adjust to the new regulations, the
Board of Trustees has adjusted the timing of the implementation of the
regulations regarding mass-start-legal equipment in Collegiate Cycling Races as
follows:
For 2010, all "non-A" categories (B, C, D,
E) are required to adhere to the
requirements for mass-start-legal equipment in all
Collegiate Cycling Races
including individual and team time trials.
For 2011, all categories, including A, will be
required to use mass-start
equipment in all Collegiate Cycling Races including
individual and team time
trials.
Furthermore, we have identified two issues that warrant
change.
The first issue is with regards to the creation and
dissemination of the rule changes, the Board has made a top-to-bottom
evaluation of our processes. We have investigated other USA Cycling Trustee
methods and resolved to adopt an improved process of collecting potential rule
change legislation, disseminating a list of rules under consideration for
voting, and providing an opportunity to present your input to the Board for
consideration in its deliberations. This includes the following revision to
Rule 7B3(d):
7B3(d) Changes to the Rules. The Board of Trustees
considers changes to the
Rules twice per year; at road and mountain bike
nationals.
(i) To be considered, a proposed rule change must be
submitted prior to April
Road / Mountain Bike National Championship, and the
Board of Trustees will
debate and vote on all proposed rule changes
thereafter.
(iv) The Board of Trustees will endeavor to publish
the rule changes to each
Conference twice per year; however rules will not go
into effect until January
1st.
(v) The Board of Trustees will deliver to the
Collegiate Cycling Manager a
revised rulebook not later than December 31 for
internal review and
publication by USA Cycling.
The second issue involves reevaluating the structure of
the Board of Trustees. The Board was first formed in 2004, when Collegiate
Cycling became a full Association of USA Cycling. Recognizing that the sport
has matured considerably since then, we are examining increasing the size of
the Board to broaden representation and gain additional volunteer resources.
This will ensure that we continue to meet our significant obligations as a
Board of Trustees while providing adequate representation for all of our key
stakeholders. The Board endeavors to bring about these changes as soon as
practicable.
Thank you all for your understanding and continued
support of Collegiate Cycling.
Respectfully,
Mark Abramson
On behalf of USA Cycling Collegiate Board of Trustees
