The suspension that Alden has placed on the team is not new. Several weeks ago, we were informed of a fine regarding paperwork for the Parkfield race, which was due to a few elements, both within and out of our control. Regardless, the process for paying the WCCC without an invoice from the school's account is very difficult, and exceedingly lengthy with the number of signatures required to approve the payment, followed by processing time, and finally snail mail. The check was in the works in more than enough time to safely assure its arrival before this race weekend.
The big stir is hearing from Alden yesterday at 4 pm that the check is not there. However, in order to make sure that this weekend runs smoothly, I've personally made additional copies of the necessary paperwork, as well as written checks to cover the fines, and over-nighted the bundle last night directly to Alden. Again, we still have not heard if the original school check arrived, but I've asked Alden to destroy the duplicate if both are there before the weekend.
I'm doing my best, and the official word is that we are clear to race, but waiting from confirmation from Alden.
If you are deeply concerned about this, I am always willing to discuss the situation, and I would encourage you to call myself or Alex before you leave this weekend.
Have a fun and safe weekend, good luck to racers, and see you all there!

Hey all, I was browsing the yahoo wccc page and came across this post ( http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/wccc-info/message/544 ) from that alden guy. Could an officer clarify what this means and assure us that we won't drive all the way down to San Diego only to be turned away because of an outstanding fine. Hopefully the issue, if any, has already been resolved and just not disseminated to the rest of the team. Please shed some light on this situation, thank you.
