Duties: Under the supervision of the Craft Center Student Manager and Program Coordinator, Instructors teach craft classes in the ASI Craft Center in one or more of the following areas: ceramics, bike repair, stained glass, darkroom, flame working, jewelry, surfboard shaping, or woodworking. The Instructor is responsible for developing class content, supervising class participants, and leading instructional sessions.
Requirements: Must have expertise in a particular craft within one or more of the Craft Center areas (ceramics, bike repair, stained glass, darkroom, flame working, jewelry, surfboard shaping, wood working) Must be a currently enrolled student at Cal Poly with a minimum of 6 units. All ASI student staff must have a minimum GPA of 2.0. Graduate students must carry 4 units/3.0 GPA. Ability to be highly organized and have good planning skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. First Aid and CPR Certification required. Ability to work with diverse populations and those with special limitations or needs. Extensive knowledge of classes being taught. Understanding of current trends in area of expertise. Previous experience in supervising and meeting participants in an instructional environment. Ability to learn new formats. Consistent attendance at continuing education workshops, lectures, and conferences.
