This one will be interesting to see how it pans out. McNally wanted his old mate Lambert here. What I remember Colchester insisted we interview Lambert first, that indicated we had spoken to him without Colchester's knowledge. That alone if true will cost us points.
As for Gunn, we only lost one league game after he signed a new contract and he build the squad he wanted and apart from a loan keeper Lambert has not added to it.
I still think he was not given the chance he deserved with his own squad but it looks like the city set up now is its who you know that counts.

Wonder how many points the FA will take from us though?

We went from Bryan Gunn - who I rate about as much as Peter Grant as a
decent manager - the last since Worthy.

Thanks Malcolm. great news about Forster so at least we won't have to play Theo in the FA Cup now phew!

Yes I heard about Colchester wanting to take action. Not so good news. Will read stories then.

Hi Zoe

It is on the Pink Un website.

"Norwich City have extended goalkeeper Fraser Forster's loan from Newcastle until the end of the season.

The deal means that Forster is also now eligible for future FA Cup ties this season and also the League One play-offs should City reach them.

Manager Paul Lambert said today: “I think Fraser has done phenomenally for us and he's got an understanding with the back four and is performing really well."

Also we have been reported by Colchester for our actions in appointing Paul Lambert.

There was something on the pink un message baord the other day about Rudd being injured - out for a while.

Where did you hear Forster's with us for the rest of the season? Was it announced today?

It is a pity perhaps that when things are going better we do not feel moved to comment accordingly in the same way as is done when things are going badly.

I'd have to say that they had been going badly for a very long time before I started to comment on here and I must have been amongst the biggest critics of the old Board and the rubbish approach that they had.  There I go again!

I am well pleased with the new set up but if we had to be pedantic I feel that when things are not going well up front then we should more quickly introduce Cody MacDonald who is a very different type of player to our other strikers.  Grant Holt is amazing and I must say that Chris Martin has done very well as has Hoolahan which perhaps more than anything illustrates that this could have been his contribution all along.   Lappin too is a useful player and you just have to smile at how seriously misjudged he was by earlier managers including Bryan Gunn.   He would have been better at left back at Charlton than Shackell for instance.   How do you criticise a defence as mean as our has been but there are some problems?    Otsemabor is great going forward with pace but suspect defensively and I also feel that although he has played well of late Doherty is too physical and that is a real problem.  He is not even subtle but as I said he has done well of late.  Michael Nelson has also done better and with Berthel Askou very sound in my view and goes forward well we are OK in this area.

I am sure that Paul Lambert is a no nonsense type at the Training Ground and yet comes across so well on TV etc and seems a real gentleman his approach to Paulton before and after the game providing all the evidence that I need to make that comment.  A great guy who could go down as one of City's best but he no doubt has ambition and that is my only worry as far as he is concerned

What is happening about Maric and Theo?  The latter was on the bench the other day at Paulton and I feared for us if he had to come on and that must be Paul Lambert's view.   Has he played in the reserves?

Whilst we are far from out of the woods we are doing very nicely but it would be nice to be drawn at home in a Cup competition.  We have had far too many away draws but the law of averages must click in soon if we survive at Southampton and Carlisle.

At left back I am not sure how long Drury has left although he is competent enough at present.  In goal we are very strong now that Forster is here for the rest of the season and is free to play in all matches.  Behind him is the rapidly developing Declan Rudd and Theo who must now feel that he would be best away from Carrow Road.   I look forward to Spillane returning, a most useful player at Central defender or full back, and definitely a real prospect.  Not too sure about Tudor-Jones or Gill they seem easily crocked to me.  Korey Smith has played well as has Adeyemi and Francomb and there are other youngsters who could prove to be good players.  I also like the look of Stephen Hughes.

Things are not bad at Norwich City at the moment and I am pleased for our supporters who deserve this upturn. We have a good side and cover which can't be bad.

We still have a debt problem and I hope that does not serve to anchor us at our present level there is just the worry that the kitty is presently bare and if we needed a player we couldn't sign one anyway.

I saw my other team Lowestoft Town beat Ryman League One (North) leaders Great Wakersley Rovers 3-0 at Crown Meadow on Tuesday and they have games in hand that could put the Trawler Boys top.  How nice it would be if they could continue to climb at least to Blue Square level.

Now that City are winning, the number of messages seems to have reduced, much the same as the PinkUn message board.

Perhaps as we have less to complain about, we all have less to say about the state of the nation that is NCFC. Of course it is much easier to write something negative than positive (no finger pointing here at all), it's just the way it is for me.

Looking forward to a day out in Southampton tomorrow – it will be our toughest game for a while, but at least we’ll have a team come and try and play against us as opposed to the way that Tranmere came and parked the bus last Saturday.

We shouldn't lose any. We didn't break any rules. OK, we may have exposed a
hole in the current system, but all we deserve is a gentle rap and the rules
need changing to prevent some club stepping in and offering a job to our
manager. :-)

Some of these comments are of course worrying.

Any organisation with a loan based financial structure of £18 Million when they sell the product out for every match would be looking at ways of restructuring the debt because it is difficult to see how operationally the loan could ever be fully recovered.   We need to discover a great talent from our Youth Team and sell him to wipe the debt out but that is really a totally forlorn hope.

I am not going into one about Doncaster here, you have all heard it enough times, but he advocated that the loan system was the way forward for us which of course is incorrect for many reasons.   Only persons who have followed the Club, or indeed any other Club, for a longish period of time would see that.   I recall with great affection some of the many yellow and green heroes of yesteryear some of whom went on to star elsewhere and some were just our stars but heroes never the less.   I doubt if many will recall Kieran Gibbs for instance in fifty years time but I recall well enough the full backs when I had to look through the fence to see the match ie Bill Lewis and John Duffy, Dennis Morgan et al.  I remember the great Reg Foulkes and a little later Barry Butler still in my view the best Central Defender ever to wear the yellow and green even though he has had many great successors in that position.   These are some of the reasons why I feel so strongly when I see the football side of things desecrated by people in power who have no understanding of our proud history.  I feel that the new Board are aware of these issues more so than in the past and that their custodianship of the Club will focus more on football matters than the infrastructural policies of the recent past.

We are on the mend and whilst there are obvious financial problems the part that matters most, as long as we don't go into administration, are our results and the way we play which are very much on the up.  I thought our match at Leeds was the best I have seen Norwich play since the Mike Walker days or perhaps briefly when we had Huckerby and Crouch in the side under Worthington although I personally found his defensive traits too much at times and he does not sit amongst the greats with me.

I would like to know how much it would take to prize Grant Holt away from us because a £1 million fee would do little to help us financially but have enormous affect on the team and our performances.   Holt looked tidy against Colchester on that fateful day but I think the scoreline did us a favour because we have landed a great Manager and spirit that he has brought into the Club.  It's still early days of course but very much so far so good for me.    It may be that It would take £5million to persuade Lambert to sell and perhaps Radio Norfolk could put that question to him.  In our position I suppose everyone has a price I just hope its not too cheap in his case.

I really hope that we can win at Southampton tomorrow not a place we generally do well at but they looked poor against Brighton so we have every chance.  And a win for Lowestoft too would also improve my weekend.

I think we have to start paying back the loans for the land, road and offices in December. But there is the loan from the Turners?

In money terms what is Holt worth as a player? We would be lucking to get £1m for him but to the club he's worth what £5 - £10m if we are in the top 6 of the Champ at the end of next season on the back of Holt.

I took it to mean looking to defer Director's loans.  It also suggests that Superfax f***ed up the finances last season, meaning the picture is far from rosy.

We have a team plying well and getting results, so I expect lots of stories linking our players to other clubs.  There seems to be a good sense of camaraderie, with the only wantaway players possibly Theo, Maric and Whaley.  At the end of the day any player would be sold for a price, but if when the transfer window opens we are in promotion contention, a player is unlikely to want to move to a Championship club.

That of course does not mean a player won't be sold as needs must.

Where did you hear Forster's with us for the rest of the season? Was it announced today?

I got laughed at today in school :o( by a QPR fan no less

As it's Children in Need day, we were fund-raising at school, children in own clothes & everyone was encouraged to wear yellow. So I wore a Norwich top - it was hard deciding which 1! lol

Interesting what you say about Gibbs, especially as he's been tipped to make the squad for S. Africa next year by various pundits. I think he was 1 of those players who just didn't cut it at Carrow Road rather than not being very good.

Interesting what you say about Gibbs, especially as he's been tipped to make the squad for S. Africa next year by various pundits. I think he was 1 of those players who just didn't cut it at Carrow Road rather than not being very good.

They go on about restructuring the £18.8m dept, does that mean we cant pay the instalment at the end of the year?

Also heard Hoolahan is off to Middlesborough but cant find anything to confirm it.

They go on about restructuring the £18.8m dept, does that mean we cant pay the instalment at the end of the year?

Yes I wasn't sure how the move saves money except I then thought of floodlighting And overtime for ground staff.
Of course Lambert is right - if someone offered silly money for Holt we'd take it, same as any club and star players.
I missed the news about accounts being skipped - sounds odd. Can you post a link pls?

In money terms what is Holt worth as a player? We would be lucking to get £1m for him but to the club he's worth what £5 - £10m if we are in the top 6 of the Champ at the end of next season on the back of Holt.

With the new weekday kick off at 2pm for all reserve games they mite as well play them behind closed doors.

IF that's what the drivers are on then the management will be on 3 or 4 times more and not working weekends. Life can be a real bitch when you don't ever get your hands dirty.

Management 'blame' them because they believe the unions are under the same 'statutory duty' as them to guarantee there are always enough staff to run full services.

Union officials, on the other hand, claim refusing overtime is a 'contractual right' and does not therefore constitute official strike action (the only way you can legitimately break a statutory duty) .

I make no claim to know who is right in law, but IMHO £38,000 average pay for a 35 hr week (up to 70k with overtime) + 100% final salary pension is a well cushty number and I have no sympathy. But then I'm a crazed Ayn Rand worshiper and the sort of person ASLEF officials would cheerfully sling in a Cuban jail.

Stupid way to run a company. How can they blame the drivers for not working a non-rostered shift but rely on overtime volunteers.

The "strikes" relate to Sunday rotas where drivers volunteered for overtime. They are now not volunteering for overtime which means no or less trains, but as far as I am aware this will have no effect on Saturday travel.
