The news that will delight most City fans is that Dean Ashton has
agreed personal terms! He will join the Canaries, subject to a
medical, for a fee believed to be worth in excess of £3m with add-ons.

The fee smashes the Club's previous official record, which was £1m for
Jon Newsome from Leeds back in 1994. The only other fees that have
come close are Huckerby, whose eventual cost was talked about as being
around £1m, and Mattias Jonson during the summer. The Swede's fee was
undisclosed, but also widely reported to be £1m.

The next highest official fees are £925k for Darren Beckford in June
1991 and £850k for Iwan Roberts in July 1997. The relative value for
