Flu for the last fortnight, and I can’t shift the bugger, so sticking with

The interesting thing is the timing of the “real” AGM – 2 February. Two days after the transfer window closes. So, is the delay because:
a) The Board don’t want anyone to know how much cash we have thus increasing the price of anyone we want to buy; or
b) The Board don’t want anyone to know how little money we have thus decreasing the price we can achieve from any sale!
Either way, the timing of the “real” AGM implies to me it is not about issues over going concern taking approval of the accounts up to the wire (the date of the AGM would have been much closer to 28 February then!), but canniness whichever of a) or b) it is above by the New Board!
Or what?

The clubs ambition with prudence policy could have been a good one but the ambition off the pitch was far more than it should have been and on the pitch prudence went too deep for too long, the decision makers at the time just got the balance wrong and we are now paying for it.

Sorry ian, but anytime you want a game of poker, let me know! If you think ambition with prudence is a given, then that is a very straight forward narrow blinkered point of view...There are or in my opinion, should be degrees of prudence, and many a team, some great, have built their status on educated gambling, edging away from restricted prudence...So if you think ambition with prudence is " a statement of the bleeding obvious", playing poker with you would be a massive payday for me (as soon as you do raise your stake,it will be bleeding obvious you have a hand) ...... ps yes i know some teams have gone bust as well..It depends on varibles, who was in charge, who they bought, the time of gambling ie in a low position with low team spirit,or riding high or during a summer break..and that other varible factor...Luck! But you try to hedge the odds of success by the type of money you spend on the type of player.Like gambling.if a good team plays a non league, then the best way to get a return(apart from beting on the non league team ,which is wild gambling), is to look at the scorelines and spread the bets with low outlays on the less obvious and then small increments on each bet till you reach the obvious scoreline ... 3 clear goals 5/1 £5 #### 4 clear goals 13/2 £4 ### 5 clear goals 8/1 £2 #### 6 clear goals 10/1 £2 ... All will result in a profit, but you cannot cover every eventuality so now and again you will come a cropper..

Sorry I assumed it was a serious remark - it certainly didn't seem very 'flip'
to me. Perhaps you could flag up which remarks are serious discussion and
which aren't, then we can all ignore the 'flip' ones? (I'll assume the stupid
jibe about noticing we're in League 1 was 'flip' as well?).
The policy of ambition with prudence (which hardly deserves to be called a
policy it's so much a statement of the bleeding obvious - a bit like
saying 'my policy is to continue breathing') was not 'a smokescreen' for
anything. And the investment in infrastructure was either required (e.g. South
Stand) or produces income for the club (catering, hotel, NU fill-in). And the
money couldn't have been spent on players because nobody would have lent it to
us for that purpose.
