Crossroads Riders -

We have confirmed our schedule with the Crossroads coordinators as listed below, and we will officially begin our equestrian activities at 11:30 a.m. with the parade through camp, followed by the procession/introductions in the ring, and then the Roman Drills.  I have confirmations from 8 horses attending.  I need all 8 in the drills.  I have tentatively set up the following order:

Solah across from Julie (If I've gotten the name right - this is one of the two horses being brought by Moyra)
Morgan's two horses across from each other
Tiny across from Wagner
Hank across from Nugget

I have the drill drawn out and will scan it in and post it to the group site for everyone to look at in advance.

For the heads competition we will use the 30' spacing and run a traditional IKEqC course (6 markers - middle four with heads).  However in order for the run to count you have to knock all four heads off and weave correctly.  So if you miss a head or a weave, you will have to go back and correct it.  The first horse across the finish lines wins that match.

For the Rings competition we will use the 30' spacing and hang the rings according to IkEqC.  This is not a timed event - just based on the points from the rings.

For the Quintain - It's working better than ever.  We'll set up poles to create lanes like we did at practice.

We have the arena both Saturday evening and Sunday morning for practice.  I think the only rule is that you can't practice unless a marshall is present.  I think Rossilin and I are arriving the earliest, so this shouldn't be a problem.

If everyone can get to the grounds by 10:00 a.m. we can practice the drill once or twice and let everyone practice on the equipment.

If we can count on all the riders that are sharing a horse to ground crew when not riding, we should have plenty of ground crew.  We'll only have one set of equipment set up at a time in the arena.

Oh, and bonus news - I have finally created NEW, lighter, buckets for the rings.  Hurray!  They are PLENTY heavy to hold the rings.

Let me know if you have any questions.  And if you're not already on my list of riders and horses attending, let me know.

DON'T FORGET - YOU MUST BRING YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD WITH YOU!!!! If you need to renew - don't forget.

Hi Nesta,

This is probably the most important though.  As for as timing of things, we have a couple of hard points that we have to observe. The most important of these is that everything EQ must be wrapped up by 4, a 3:45 end time would even be better. That's because the last event of the Canton Championship takes place at 4. Think of a Monty Python horse race with the Champion wannabe and his team being the various horse parts. you don't want to miss it!  :)

Saturday afternoon is open for practice there should be no impediment for that.
Sunday morning is open for practice as early as you feel like!

The major event on Sunday morning happening behind the arena which does not impact EQ at all is the Royal Archer tournament north of the arena starting at 10, should be over NLT 11.    I'd like to get some of the non-shooters up there to root-on their favorite archer, and ease them over to see EQ then, but we'll see.

The EQ time frame is scheduled to start at 11.  What do you think about doing your schedule with new times as modified  below ?? There are a couple of questions I've inserted into the lines also.

11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - parade through camp - heralding of the equestrian events to come (all horses invited to participate)

12:15- 12:45 p.m. - Opening procession then Roman Drill demonstration- includes javelin/spear throw demo at the end
                            Procession including all contestants .

12:45 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. - Demos/Competition:
Match races on the Heads (two sets of heads set up) - Winner will be "Equestrian Heads Champion"
Matches on the Rings (two sets of rings set up) - (Based on points from rings only - not speed). - Winner will be "Rings Champion"
    Quintain Challenges
Pig Sticking Demonstration (if time allows and riders are still up for it)

YIS,
Tyr
